There was a magnitude 4.0 earthquake offshore, near Eastlake, Ohio yesterday. No reports of damage or injury. ---

Ohio is not allowed to have earthquakes; that was not included in their charter from 1840-whatever. Send it back. ---

Pretty cool, I felt it where I am 26 miles from the epicenter. I knew exactly what it was when it happened. I heard a boom and then my chair swayed in a very particular way. I remember the same feeling from 2011 when there was an earthquake in Virginia and we felt it all the way up here. I was sitting in the exact same place. Not too many people I talked to down here felt it. I think I was just in the right exact place - sitting on a wheeled chair on a wooden floor above a basement. ---

The quake was in Lake Erie, not sure it was related to fracking. [Here’s a map of the epicenter](https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us70003xny/map) and [here’s a fracking map of the area](http://maps.fractracker.org/3.13/?webmap=4e21676b1c00414ba14edf654c7f7fe3) . Looks like all the fracking is well inland, in southeast Ohio. I don’t think I knew this but there seems to have been a 2.7 earthquake very near the same place in 2013. \*\*burpo \*\*I’m actually sort of bummed at myself for not having changed my routine for over 8 years now 😃 ---

4.0? Meh. I spent most my life in SCal. 4.0 is a a fun ride. Especially on the 8th floor. When we lived in KY (Mr VOW was in the US Army), I felt a tremor. I looked at him and said, “Hey, no mistaking what THAT was!” And we learned about the New Madrid Fault then. California considers earthquakes to be entertainment. As a contrast, tornados scare me shitless. ~VOW ---

🙂 I too was wondering about Lake Erie sloshing, considering the epicenter was in the lake. I haven’t seen any mention of it, though. There are salt mines up in that area, under the lake, but they didn’t report any problems due to the quake. ---

As 20year resident of Cali, I laugh when Cleveland complains/worries about quakes–the previous “quake”? that occurred while I was working downtown on 22nd floor and my coffee cup didn’t even shake! ---
