It’s my wife’s country, and she likes the junta just fine. So do many, many other Thais who are not red-shirt filth. ---

Long term? Who knows? One problem is getting the voters to stop selling their vote to the highest bidder. But as I’ve pointed out repeatedly, Thailand never has never been a democracy. The military has always controlled it from behind the scenes, always, ever since the revolution of 1932, popping up to take control more overtly when a gangster like Thaksin and his ilk decides he’s more powerful than the military. But I’m just repeating myself now. ---
