I hate it when people start threads to complain about stuff and I click on them expecting them to be serious so that I can name my one and only complaint, then find that the thread’s like a litter box. Just full of a buncha cat crap. 😃 ---

Yeah, I thought about that, and came to this conclusion: only post what’s _necessary_ from the orgional post. Don’t quote the whole damn thing if you’re only really responding to one sentence. Especially when the post is a freakin’ half page long! Shit that I don’t like: \*\*\* People posting long personal messages about the tribulations and illnesses of non-Dopers. Family of Dopers is okay; that feels like a true connection-- Otherwise I can’t understand why you’d want to ask Dopers to pray for your co-workers’s goiter problem. \*\*\* Self-aggrandizing posts disguised as laments or rants which are designed to show off to other Dopers how passionate and sensitive the OP’s author is. \*\*\* Pit Rants ripped from the pages of the Shock Media. I already ranted on that last week. \*\*\* People using sarcasm to no good effect \*\*\* Assholes a perfectly sound debate just because they found an easy mark in their opponents post–that is, nitpicking about some bullshit small thing while completely ignoring the overall point they’re trying to get across. \*\*\* Quoting another poster line by line in a rebuttal. \*\*\* People who annoy Biggirl. \*\*\* Faux self-righteous bullshit. Double that for anything that starts, "This might get me banned, but I don’t care because it has to be said . . . " (cue violins) \*\*\* People who don’t fawn all over me in my threads. \*\*\* That nasty lardy feeling on the roof of my mouth after eating Triscuits. Yeah, it’s not SDMB related, but it just popped into my mind. \*\*\* People who don’t know WHAT THE FUCK they are talking about but state their guesses as fact. This must have happened at least 3 times in every thread about the U-M Supreme Court cases and it made me scream. \*\*\* People who don’t understand logic or rational thought, but try to debate anyway. Ditto for people who don’t understand statistics or scientific methods, but try to use (or refute) that sort of evidence in their arguments. I think that’ll do for now. Must go hose off. ---
