When Kasey was a baby, she used to try and climb the tree, and a few times she was successful. I came home quite a few evenings to find her sleeping in the branches. Of course at the time, she was as big as my two hands put together. Now that she is older, and bigger, she prefers to sleep under the tree.

Sam would tryto climb the tree too, but he was a bit too big for it, and would fall out. He only had to fall out once, and that was it for the attempted tree climbings for him. He likes to see how many ornaments he can knock down, and once he has knocked down enough, he sleeps on them.

Neither of them have eaten tinsel, or anything else off the tree, but they do like to shake the tree to hear all the ornaments with bells ring.

He was one of the gang from day one… except that my wife blocked him from entering with one foot, remarking “Who are you?”

He saw no reason at all why he shouldn’t trot under the tree to the trunk and begin insinuating his way, branch by branch, to a comfortable spot at the top, the better to survey his domain.
>
> Three times, the weight of ten pounds of tomcat at the top of that damn tree caused it to topple. You’d think a cat would learn. Not Buffy, though. Stubborn. I mean, if it ever gets into his head that cats could theoretically fly, he’d be the cat to do it, out of sheer iron stubborn perseverance.

Maybe he should be named Macavity !

Okay-two cats named Buffy on the SDMB, both orange tabbies, who like to climb Christmas trees no matter what their Humans say.

Hmmm…now I’m scared.

Speaking of, Buffy was at the tree again today, batting at the ornaments. _sigh_ My dad can’t put our lovely set of antique glass beads on the tree anymore for fear she’ll try to carry them off and cut her mouth to ribbons.

Damn you, furballs!

Unlikely. As I recall, the recurring theme of the song in question had it that when the authorities showed up at the scene of the crime…

“…Macavity’s not there!”

In Buffy’s case, he was RIGHT damn there. Furiously washing his butt and acting as if he hadn’t noticed anything wrong. And when confronted on the issue, he gets this look about him…

“Hm? I’m sorry? Come again? Oh… you think I did all this? Ha, ha, ha. No, no, not I. Some other cat, perhaps. Pardon me while I finish washing my butt, and then pause to chew an imaginary flea out of my belly fur. Would you care to pet me?”

I used to have 2 huskies. The bigger one (the male, named Mika), was the most playful thing ever. The little one (the female, the runt of the litter, Nikina). Anyway, we had this beige carpet in the livingroom, where the tree always is. We also happen to have this ornament that ALWAYS goes on the tree, near the bottom: a nice red apple. No clue how we got it, but it’s always there. Until the xmas where we woke up and the beige carpet was dyed red from Mika dragging the red apple ornament all over the carpet! We bought another red apple after that… but it goes near the top of the tree now, and we don’t have the huskies anymore (unrelated reason though lol).
