# They finally made a sequel and it SUCKED!

The originals were classics or at least enjoyable films. The sequels not so much. Maybe the timespan had something to do with it. Can’t use the same cast if you wait 10+ years. Or maybe it was because you had different people making the film. Different producer, director, …_key grip_. A few examples:
Single White Female (1992) - Single White Female 2: The Psycho (2005)
The Lost Boys (1987) - Lost Boys: The Tribe (2008)
Basic Instinct (1992) - Basic Instinct 2 (2006)
The first 2 were DTV and I rented them because I liked the originals. Mistake. I haven’t seen BI2 but I put it up there becuse I’ve heard it was universally panned.

Easy answer - Star Wars.
The first three (or episodes 4-6, if you buy into Lucas’ lies) were pure magic.
The last three are complete garbage.
With less time span - The Matrix was gold. Reloaded was lead. I didn’t even bother with Revolutions.

“An American Werewolf In London” was a truly great movie, with a fine mix of both horror and humor, and for it’s time, amazing special effects…
“An American Werewolf In Paris” was beyond terrible, with seemingly NO connection to the original movie. (It’s only slightly redeeming feature was introducing me to Julie Delpy, who is absolutely stunning)

Going back in time a bit, I thought _all_ of the Psycho sequels sucked (though they weren’t as pointless was the scene-for-scene line-for-line remake with Vaughn/Heche).
I’ve watched _Aladdin_ and _The Lion King_ and other major Disney movies, but I’ve never watched any of the dtv sequels. Are they any good?

Are books okay? **The Talisman** by Stephen King and Peter Straub is one of my favorite books, ever. **Black House** is disapointingly awful.

Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3. Truly disappointing. It sure would have helped if they’d actually finished the script before they started filming.

Ahem. That was “Babe, Pig in the City.” Having a chimp voiced by Steven Wright still makes me laugh. I enjoyed it.
Have to agree 100% with the Star Wars movies. After yawning through the second “new” one I declared myself done with that series.
I enjoyed the PotC movies but hated the ending of the third one. Captain Jack is a riot to watch.

I haven’t seen _Bambi II_ but it’s presumedly a drop from the original. And it was made sixty-four years after _Bambi_.

Dunno, I think there’s a decent possibility that the first three just happened to be perfectly targeted to male tweens. The new additions also were, except that it was 35-40 year old men trying to enjoy it now.
