Has anyone read the last book in the “series”?
It seems the first part is set in the same civilization as Jonas and Gabe, from the POS of Gabe’s birthmother. I wonder if it deals with the aftermath from The Giver
In my mind the sequels don’t exist (yeah silly I know) and the powerful ambiguous ending of the novel is kept.
Personally, my interpretation of the ending varied. Sometimes I read the book and thought they made it, other times I thought they didn’t. I tried to see if there were hints in the two previous dreams with the same scenario, but ended up finding that the final scenario combined elements from both (one had a good outcome, the other a bad outcome). But I am glad the ending is what it is.
It’s helpful to give a hint about what’s in the spoiler box. Otherwise, how does one know whether to click or not?
