The Berniecat had to be pilled twice a day (thyroid meds). We used the Greenie Pill Pockets, but after a while she caught on and would eat around the pill. Brat. She would eat around the canned food, or pick the pill out, or just not eat if she realized the meds were in it (even crushed).
Then I started mashing her pills into meat baby food. Oh, nom nom nom. Worked every time.
He’s getting wise to us. When roomie’s in the kitchen and I pick up the cat, he starts crying. He knows what’s coming. As I said, it’s getting quicker, though; and he forgives us quickly. After our terrible abuse of him, he came up and took a bath on my arm. Still bathing, still has to touch me.
The Orbax is almost gone. We need to get one more bottle, and then the course will be done.
He doesn’t care for the special food, and he’s lost weight. (He needed to, really.) Roomie will put him back on the Purina non-special-but-still-good-for-not-getting-UTI food soon.
Say, guess what I stepped in this morning? I think I’ll rename the cat ‘Horky’. I heard him horking, but I was groggy at 0425 when I got up and missed it. Or didn’t miss it, rather.
Cold is SLIGHTLY less repulsive than still warm. Slightly. It’s still no fun to step in or clean up, but still warm hork makes me want to join in the festivities.
My Luna loves chicken-flavor Greenies Pill Pockets. In fact, she begs for them. Giving her pills went from nearly impossible to easy when we discovered this.
When we used to have a parrot and would take her to get her claws trimmed she reacted in much the same way. I had a wonderful vet, who was unfailingly kind and gentle, but my poor baby would scream and scream and scream. And then run to her mommy (awww) when set down.
A vet was on TV once - she said if you are giving your cat liquid medicine by squirting a syringe into the cats mouth try and squirt between the teeth and cheek rather than straight down the middle. The cat will get more of the medicine that way even if he tries to spit it out.
