Go to enough yard sales, you’ll see just about everything that is legal to sell. ---

While you can usually find a ton of LPs at garage sales, it’s surprisingly to find an actual working LP player. I know because I’ve been trying to find one for the past year. And if you do spot one, the needle will be missing, the belts will be shot, or the speakers won’t work. And yes, yes, I realize I can buy a Crosley on Amazon for about $100, but I’m a cheapskate. ---

I once accompanied my wife to a yard sale…the guy must have worked for a firm that made tschokes for other companies (keychains,glasses, coffee mugs, etc.). The guy had cases of this junk-imagine serving your guests with mugs emblazoned with “Harold’s Funeral Service”-etc…gaahh! ---

I have seen viobrators and sex toys at a garage sale… “left by a former room mate” - or so they said… Good working tools - yes (got a nail gun in the garage … bought it for $5) Valuable items - yes… Got a ceramic Nipper Dog (RCA “His Master’s Voice” Dog) from the 1950’s. paid $5… worth much more… Lab Microscope - paid $3 (probably do not want to check the serial number too closely) Haida Wood Carving - appraised at $600, paid $2 things I havent seen - (yet) large flat screen TV’s ipods, fireworks [Previous page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/thiings-youll-never-find-at-garage-sales/582389.md?page=2)
