Things I like about the USA

Come to Chicago! We’ve got Indian (on Devon Ave) and lots besides! You’ll love it here!

Things I love about Scotland:

heather

sheep (we don’t really have sheep here, mostly cattle and corn/soybeans)

men in kilts

bagpipe music (in small doses)–we have Irish pipes and Scottish ones in most of our parades here and we loves 'em

shortbread

early Sheena Easton (why not)

that philospher guy-can’t think of his name.

the dry wit

First footing

Hogmanay (sp?)

Robbie Burns nights (went to my first one this year and loved it)

highland fling–nice dancing-very dramatic.

the fact that Scotland has one of the highest rates of literacy in the world(jealous).

No mention of Montgomery Scott?

Regarding Indian food – Come to Edison, NJ and its surrounding communities. There is a “little India” that isn’t very little. Entire streets filled with Indian and Pakistani businesses including clothing stores, groceries, and restaurants.

Reminds me of a joke (Irish not Scottish, nut near enough). Bloke called Neal Dunne has emigrated and not written to his mum for ages. His Mum asks this other fellow to find Neal and ask him to write to her. He gets word that Neal is staying at this guest-house and goes along. As he goes to reception, he sees someone who looks like Neal nipping into the Gents’. Seeing the stall is taken, he calls out: “You Neally Dunne?”
“Yeah, but I’ve run out of paper.”
“Dat’s no excuse for not writing to your mother.”

I love America, but that’s mostly a byproduct of my hatred for retarded and underage criminals.

Seriously, though; what I really like about America is Americans. I’m not too fond of the country as an entity these days but I still loves me them 'merkins–a propostrously wonderful people in general. Can’t wait to try the cuisine…
