Things I miss about not being a kid...

Wonderful World Of Disney at 7:00 on Sunday evenings. It was extra wonderful if it was a cartoon, but the hour long movies were pretty cool as well.

*No cliques (they didn’t start till junior high)
*it didnt matter what I wore when I went out
*going to the beach and not worrying about my tan
*pool parties
*fights with your best friend were resolved by recess
*boys had cooties. (I’d be so much better off if they still did…)
*happy meals (We were always poor growing up, so we never could afford them. They were a luxary. Now, I buy then just for the toys, to make up for lost times :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: )

nothing

Actually, I pretty much hated being a kid. The older I get, the happier I am. Granted, I’m not that old (several people here would probably still call me a kid - I’m not quite 29), but so far I haven’t found a reason to want to go back. It’s not like I was abused or anything, at least not beyond what you’d expect for a geek kid who hated things like gym class, but I truly despised all the restrictions and limitations on my life back then. I mostly hated other kids, too, with a few exceptions.

I think the trick to this game (you know… life) is to grow up, yet not to grow up. I still play video games, watch cartoons, and go outside without worrying about what I’m wearing. I do that whole hold-down-a-day-job-and-pay-bills thing, too, but hell, that’s no reason to stop having fun! And now I can afford toys I only DREAMED of as a child! I can do everything from fly an airplane to buying the baddest-ass Nerf weaponry made. If the Nerf weaponry won’t suffice, I can build a potato cannon! Awww yeah - life as an adult is good. I ain’t never goin’ back to that kid stuff. And if ever someone decides to tell me I need to grow up, I’ll give 'em the finger.

Damn I miss my childhood more than I realize and I’m only 19. I miss friends coming over to go swimmin’, riding my bike down to the river to try and find a dead person (never found one), eatin’ weird crap just because you are a kid, playing football and baseball all day long in the summer, making a house out of snow in the winter, I miss all the good crap. I don’t really have time to even act like a typical 19 year old I’m in serious relationship and ever since my parents got divorced I’ve had to help support my mother so she doesn’t loose her job all this while in college for the first year taking a bunch of hard classes. Damn I yearn for those years of unobliterated joy and happiness.

I remember seeing my first porn at age 11. I guess that made it 1968. Wow! It was the real thing, too. Not just boobs, like Playboy. It showed everything. Nowadays I find worse stuff just by checking my e-mails. Oh, and I also miss all that other stuff everyone else mentioned.

Wimp!!

And what the hell is a “Snow Day”?
