The secret nickname thread got me to thinking about the nicknames our parents called us as “young’uns”-sometimes they stuck, if we’re lucky they didn’t.

My mom called my brother “Fudd” and she called me “Pudge”-
boy am I glad THAT didn’t stick! One day, mom called my brother Rob for dinner- “Robbie! come home, it’s time to eat!” Rob came home, a friend tailing along. The friend said to mom, “who is Robbie?” Mom said “Why, this is Robbie-you should know that!”. Friend said “Oh, I thought his name was Fudd”.

Last time we ever heard Fudd or Pudge!

(Thank the Lord)

My mom always used to call me ‘poopche’ which translated into english means ‘little bun’.

I was her little dinner roll.

Bidgie. My mother used to call me that all the time. No idea what it means, where it came from … then again, they also had a cat named Toosar, so these people are not exactly name geniuses.

Incidentally, my sister (now 21) was and always shall be Boo-Boo.

My mommy calls me “Knick Knock.” Not sure why…it might be because my middle name is Nicole and until I was 6 (and every other girl in my class was named Nicole) no one called me Sarah, my real first name.

She called my brother Keith Peepers. He has very pretty, big eyes.

What about funny songs your parents sang? My mom always sung to my brother, “Jeepers, Keifers, where’d ya get those peepers?”

And I got, “I see your hiney, all white and shiny, if you don’t hide it, I’m gonna bite it.”

Gee, no wonder I’m all fucked up! 🙂

mmmm, my mom used to call me Aloni (ah-lon-nee), that was when everything was calm, otherwise it would be: Moron, idiot, shithead, stupid, but mostly moron. I remember that going on from when i was very young to about 16, i got kicked out at 17, and finally at 20 she started to call me Alon, without the added insults. Now she just calls once a week to remind me about how guilty i need to feel as her son.

I got “bunky”, “puppy”, and “bonzo” (ah, a monkey reference!). I don’t exactly know what a bunky would be, per se, but I’m seeing an animal connection here…

My given name is Tamara and, as a child, I was always called Tammy. My mom used to call me Tammy-too sometimes.

My husband and I sometimes call our son, Nick, “Snickers” and our daughter, Dori, “Dosey.” I also used to call Nick, “Fatty.” This was when he was quite small and (duh) not entirely svelte. He’s now a skinny almost-14 year old who’s nearly as tall as I am. The other day, though, he came up to me in the kitchen and leaned against me, saying, “Mom? Why don’t you ever call me your little Fatty any more?” So, I had to give him a cuddle and call him my Fatty, and I threw in a “Snickers” and a “Nickle-knockin’-knuckle-nose” too. I also sang him his favorite baby-song (Bushel and a Peck). It’s a good thing he’s at a wrestling match this morning – he’d be irritated at me for posting this story!

I got “Tiger” and “Pumpkin” from Mamma O, and still do on occasion. My sister was often “Siskins” or “Missy”. Dad didn’t call us much except our first names, or whatever came into his head when he was mad. Which was often.

Hmmm…maybe my mom should give you a call.

However, it should be noted that I was NOT drunk and dancing in a grass hula skirt when she sang that to me. That’s all you, honey.

Any new photos posted? 🙂

ok have a little peek into the psyche of psycat.
My mom called me (starting at about age 5):
piece of shit
worthless
good for nothing
slut
whore
trash
pig

As well as a few other colorful ones. No pet names though.
My dad did call me Shan the Man. that’s about it.

My kids, i call my oldest son Pumpkin or Pumpkin Pie.
the youngest I have been calling Booger, lately. I also use mijo (as in mi hijo, or my son) a lot for both of them.

When I was in kindergarten my teacher asked what my middle name was. I said Princess.

Other childhood ones would have included Pumpkin, Miss Piggy and Legs.

The only one I get now is Oscar. It all started when I was about 11 years old. I don’t remember the situation exactly but I was acting dramatically sarcastic for some reason. To this my dad said something along the lines of my deserving an oscar.

Oh wait. I get an occasional Sweety and Cutey, but I try to block those ones out.

My brother used to call me something really cute before he could pronounce my name, but with my being less than a year old at the time, don’t remember.

When I couldn’t say his name, I just called him Fuffy.

I have been Befer ever since I can remember. My best friend when I was little, Jenny, had some trouble pronouncing the “th” sounds so she said “f” instead and it just stuck. I am Befer and she is Jenny-Poo. I am also called Bethie by my really close friends and yes, “evilbeth” is a nickname many people call me.

Scott the Pot, or Pothead for short. Had they only known.

Since I came from a large family we all had nicknames, which are used to this day… to the callee’s chagrin. We had a shark, pot, sand box, chubcheck, peg bench, wig-wag, Wayne the pain, wreath, bonzy, Guy Smilie, June bug (later bastardized to Boon Jug) and smile pile.

My son is Skirmie or The Skirm.
