Thanks, just had wieners and Cajun rice for dinner.

Here is another inferior and awful thing I prefer. Oscar Meyer Braunschwieger, or ‘redneck pate’ as I like to call it. It belongs to a genre of processed meats that my dad termed ‘fishing food’ because you could only break them out when there were no women around to be horrified. Other items in this category include Spam and Penrose Pickled Sausages.

I bought a nice coffee grinder and tried all kinds of beans until I came to the conclusion that I prefer good old Taster’s Choice.

Somewhat similarly, plain old Maxwell House or Folger’s works for me.

In a different vein, my ex used to insist that our cats eat Science Diet, only available from one place in town, and which was supposedly nutritionally superior to anything else, and which also happened to be twice or more the price of other cat foods. But my ex left me, and unsurprisingly, the cats she left me with are glad to eat Purina Cat Chow (which was necessitated once when I was out of cat food during a snowstorm–I could get to the supermarket three blocks away, but I couldn’t get across town to get Science Diet). Their vet says that they are just as happy and healthy on the less-expensive, less-fancy food as they were on the more expensive stuff. Of course, if the vet indicates that they need something special, I will supply it; but until then, plain old Purina Cat Chow works for them. And my wallet.

Corn based cat food is crap. Literally.

Cheap watches keep better time.

My irascible ex gave me a Rolex Oyster for an engagement present (I gave her my testicles). I subsequently kicked her to the curb, but continue to wear the watch…even though it keeps terrible time. It runs fast, faster by the day.

Jewelers tell me it just needs a deep cleaning. But, I could buy ~25 Timex watches for what they charge to clean a Rolex. I’m not about to pay that, so, I’ll continue to have only a vague notion of the time.

**Anonymous Person** : _Hey Tibby, what time is it?_

**Tibby:** _Oh, it’s 4-ish…maybe 4:30-ish…let’s just say, afternoon-ish._

Perhaps. But my cats like it, and according to their vet, there is nothing wrong with it. My cats still play with their toys, and run around the house, and nap, and beg for Whiskas Temptations treats. As I said, their vet declares them happy and healthy, so I don’t see a problem with their regular Purina Cat Chow food.

I wear a Seiko watch daily. It is nothing special, and I’ve owned it for 25 years. Like I said, it’s nothing special; I bought it for about $25 in 1988. But it works, and it keeps reasonable time. If it loses one minute in a year, big deal. If somebody offered me a Rolex in exchange for my trusty Seiko, I’d refuse the deal. My cheap Seiko works just fine for me.

Coffee beans for the espresso maker. I have a hoity toity semi automatic espresso maker. It makes great espresso. We pretty much buy what’s on sale at Costco. I will admit the Costco beans (Kirkland, Starbucks, San Franciso, etc) are not as standardized. One setting one day with a great shot is a little too watery the next day.

This does not happen with say Lavazza extra crema, which comes out pretty much exactly the same every time for 3x the price. Plus we don’t show at the Lavazza shop all that often.
