Shannon Doherty’s face is seriously lopsided. Her left eye is a good bit higher than her right.

Once you see this, you can’t ever NOT see it.

Faith Hill has a similar eye issue, but not as noticeable. It’s usually [_very_ subtle](http://www.ivstatic.com/files/et/imagecache/636/files/blog_articles/faith-hill-LIST.jpg), and you have to know to look for it. They also tend to photograph her with her head slightly tilted or with her face partially turned, but sometimes, if the angle is wrong, it [backfires](http://www.shoppingblog.com/pics/faith_hill_brigitte_bardot.jpg).

If you watch her of TV in interviews, you’ll notice it more, unless the do something funky with the camera. A former colleague of mine was on set during an interview with her where they “artistically” had the camera at a really weird angle the whole time.

She’s much prettier than Shannon Doherty though.

On the subject of song lyrics: I (intentionally, 'cause she wouldn’t stop playing it) spoiled “Tiny Dancer” for one of my roommates freshman year of college by singing along loudly to it as, “Hold me closer, Tony Danza.”

Someone told me that in high school, only it was “The Battle-Hymn of the Republic,” which you may also know as “John Brown’s Body.”
Amusingly, a few years later in college, the professor of my Dickinson class tried to tell us that it was a myth. (IIRC, there are a handful that don’t really work, but a very large number do.)

I would like to have been on that research panel.

Expectedly, in sitcoms that employ the use of the “Devil’s Laugh” all I can do now is count the seconds between the laughter.

As an intresting little tidbit to add, (sorry to add to the problem!) Most of the laugh tracks major syndicated television shows use were recorded in the 50’s, so there is a very good chance most of the people you hear laughing… are dead.

Since learning that fact, I can never not think about it.

That is brilliant!

My favorite example of things that can never be unnoticed is - [kerning](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerning).

A well-designed font adjusts the space between two given letters to maintain a consistent amount of white space. The classic examples is the word “WAR”. If you are reading this on a Windows machine and have not changed the default font the Dope uses, you will see that the default font is not a well-designed font. The word “WAR” is not kerned properly. The amount of white space between the W and the AR is too great, and can look like W AR. A properly kerned font would reduce the space between the W and A to the same amount as between the right leg of the A and the upright of the R. The other classic example is the word “To” - the o should be partially under the capital T.

You’re welcome.

Turn it counterclockwise. Look at the cloud in the lower half. Inside the cloud.

It’s a skull

Floyd fans? Have a copy Meddle? Works best with the larger vinyl cover, but if you have the CD, take out the insert and open it up so it lays flat. If you have neither, go [here](http://www.neptunepinkfloyd.co.uk/images/news/2004/storm/lrg/meddle.jpg) and make sure you can see the entire image at once (i.e., zoom if you have to).

What is it?

Give it a moment … It’s an ear.

The song “[So Lonely](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQ1sTL_TYUM)” by the Police sounds like they are singling about “[Sue Lawley](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sue_Lawley)” a British TV presenter who was on everything during the 80s.

Saw a lady on the E train the other day go through quite an elaborate routine involving purell. She got on the train wearing gloves. Before she grabbed a rail she took off her gloves and applied the purell. Then she put the gloves back on. Then she took out an alcohol wipe and used it to wipe down a rail next to her. THEN she used both the alcohol wipe and packaging from the alcohol wipe to grab the alcohol wiped rail with her gloved and purell’ed hands.

She must have seen something similar to the scene you witnessed.

It’s probably not very funny to someone not familiar with the games. Bomberman is a simple, light, happy game about clearing enemies and blocks with stylized bombs in vibrant, colorful landscapes. Bioshock is a deconstruction of Objectivism set in a dark underwater capitalist 50s-steampunk dystopia, involves people who are seriously mentally and physically deranged from modifying their genetic code, and other horrors that are best described as “seriously fucked up.” Imagine Tigger being put in Fight Club and you’ll start getting the idea of why it’s funny.
