It only took me two routings to learn to never go back down the line, Unless I disagreed with the higher authority and thought the lower one would go to bat against the last change. The very last person to make changes is the admin person who does the final spelling and format check. I’ve never seen anyone argue with admin. ---

I’m a graphic designer, and I was assigned a year-long campaign of designing socials (X, LinkedIn, FB, IG) to promote podcasts and learning modules. They both follow their own VIs (Visual Interface) that have to have certain elements: successful, happy youngish professionals (with less emphasis on white males for DEI purposes) in front of abstract backgrounds signifying financial skill, growth, and desire to succeed, using the company color palette in gradients over a cloud pattern, symbolizing lofty goals and high aspirations. I did everything right, using the company fonts and proper hierarchy for the headlines. I made changes and revisions from reviewers and business partners, and everything’s all copacetic and right with the world. Then I took another look at my completed project and thought, “God Almighty, this is effin UGLY!” It’s garish and contrived, designed by committee to check all the boxes of the audience we’re trying to connect with, and it looks like technicolor vomit. I’m not really infuriated, just feel more like my soul eroded away for pay. ---

I suspect that somewhere there’s a cave painting where someone thought, “Ugh, I have to include Og killing that buffalo _by himself_ because he’s the chiefs son even though it looks totally unbalanced and I’m pretty sure I saw Zorgus’ and Golors’ spears sticking out of it first” ---

But these days, around here, such employees are forbidden to accept tips. I’ve asked and been told, “no, I could get fired if I take one.” I even asked a store manager once about tipping extra helpful individuals, and the change that came into his voice when he asked, “_why, did someone accept a tip_?” was a little scary. They seem to take it seriously. ---

But I give them the “$5 handshake”. Also I am a regular customer. I asked at Disneyland, and only certain employees- hotel, restaurant etc - can take tips. But then you can give little gifts- they have to say no, but then if you insist- accept them. By little gift I mean giving a Walt Disney World Cast Member a " Citizen of Disneyland" pin- which is free, And when a CM mentions they collect a certain trading pin, handing them one. But the best tip of all is going to Town hall and giving them an Official Compliment. The reason for the “no tips” policy at grocery is they dont want the employees begging for tips. Understandable. ---

Well, a little infuriating. I work in a team of 4 I have far more seniority than anyone else. Not the boss per-se though. That’s fine, I don’t want my job to be “I go to meetings” So, we are dealing with some pretty important stuff that has to do with sending data to the USPS. We can do that. I get an email from team member yesterday. I couldn’t interpret what it was. Only that it was from X team member. It made no sense. After puzzling through this for 10 minutes, I at least made the connection, but not really what it meant. Yes, you saved time by trying to do a voice to text email while you where walking. DO NOT DO THAT AGAIN. YOU may have saved time, but you wasted mine. ---

Just had one right now. Looking at the police record on traffic incidents, They have one field for the type of incident. One type of incident is “DAV (Disabled Vehicle).” Why bother with the DAV part? Just put “Disabled Vehicle.” It’s inconsistent. ---

Another thing that just happened: I got the mail and there was an envelope from the power company. You can see the words, “Reply Requested” peeking out in the little window on the front. And of course, it’s an advertisement. How dare you assholes try to social engineer me with this faux-official language on a sales pitch! ---
