I was in a bar over the weekend and noticed one of those signs that said: You must have been born on or before this date in [SIZE=“7”]1990 to be served in this establishment. [/SIZE] Wait, what? \*1990?? \*How the fuck did that happen?? ---

It’s mostly my body that makes me feel old these days. Well, that and professional athletes - we were watching some of the NHL draft, and those kids looked like they were about 13 years old. ---

I hate the fact that I need reading glasses. I’m getting better, but for a long time I’d be in a store and realize I couldn’t make out the prices, so back out to the car to fetch the glasses. What a pain. And there really should be a law about minimum print size on medication. Are you fucking kidding me? ---

I first felt old when a girl younger than myself was the centerfold in _Playboy_. Of course, that happened when I was only 18, but still, up to that point, they’d all been older than me. ---

Last year a met a woman who is closer to my niece’s age than than to mine. That is, my third niece, who is still in college. And this woman is a college professor who talks about “these damn kids today”, and how she has to explain to them what 9/11 was. At least the POTUS is older than me. By, like, three months. ---

When I turned 45, I had to get trifocals, altho the distance correction was really minor. Now at 57, the distance correction isn’t minor any longer and my near vision is so bad that I can’t even make out the shapes of blurry letters - even when I know what they say. **Annie-Xmas** - amen on the younger Prez. I’d resigned myself to having doctors and dentists and even my boss being younger than I, but I figured I’d be in my 60s before the President was younger. And this year, my next-to-the-youngest sister tuned 50. When I left home to join the Navy, she was still in middle school! How did all of this happen?? ---

I am 36 and had a tennis match against an 18 year old the other day. During one of the changeovers I was thinking about how I was old enough to be his father. That depressed me. Then he kicked my ass and that depressed me even more. It was like losing to a younger, fresher version of myself. ---

When I took my daughter to the Dr. to get a perscription for birth control. She needed help with really bad acne, not actual pregnancy risk; but as the Dr. spelled out the whole story to her about prevention of pregnancy, it dawned on me that I was in potential grandmother territory. ---

It’s amazing how much my eyesight has deteriorated in the past few years. I went from having “better than perfect” vision to being nearly blind in just a few years. A year ago in April my sister turned 50, and her youngest daughter turned 18. And my brother is now a grandfather. ---
