I thought Snowboarder Bo’s quarry-throwing attempt at jumpstarting a catch-phrase via randomized sprinkling of insertions was an interesting and harmless experiment.
I’m the right age and of the right milieu, apparently, to be a big Smashing Pumpkins fan, yet I know next to nothing of their music, and feel no particular desire to find out.
I find neither Der Trihs nor Shodan trollish in the least.

I sometimes pirate music and movies. I consider it a venial sin, and I guess sometimes I want to watch _Defending Your Life_ more than I want to avoid those.

I don’t recognize most of the songs on the Most Popular annual surveys after about 1970. Nor do I recognize lots of the stuff being discussed on Cafe Society.
And my user name has nothing to do with any political or economic philosophy - I really didn’t know who John Galt was when I chose it - I just knew the first line of the book.

Hmm…
I don’t like tattoos. Piercings are A-ok, though. Have at.
I smoke…and I love to smoke…and wouldn’t be eternally quitting except societal pressure/familial health etc. Hell, I’d like to smoke an ugly, stinky german pipe in public (as a lady). Kill me.
Doctor Who. My (white) husband adores it…I dig the idea of Doctor Who MUCH more than the execution. I keep trying, but there it is. I kind of liked Troughton, Baker, and Eccleston, and somewhat Tennant, and I am a huge Douglas Adams fan. So I keep trying. But I just hate the new stuff. And, most of the old stuff… I love similar things like The Prisoner and Monty Python and Hitchhikers Guide and X-Files and Dirk Gently so I should love Doctor Who but I just. Don’t. Urgh.
Don’t care much for Disney, either, except Pixar stuff is pretty cool, and I did like Hercules, Aladdin, and the Little Mermaid, musically.
This doesn’t quite fit, but I think it is funny and I’ve wanted to share for a while. I get these users mixed up mostly because of the names. Shodan, Shakes, and Shagnasty. 😃 One of them always invariably pops up on the stuff I like to read here. So I picture them like the naughty Three Stooges. Yeah, I dunno, either.
I’m pretty Republican. I’m too lazy/busy/got too many kids to do Great Debates or y’all would probably hate me more, that’s all I have to say about that.
I love Led Zeppelin and C.S. Lewis but am bored by Lord of the Rings. And couldn’t play D and D for the life of me. (but love Planescape:Torment) How about them apples!
Hmm…I like Chicago deep dish pizza, especially Gino’s, and am from (roughly), Chicago…

I’m a fellow anchovy fan. Yum!
I also like peppers, onions, and olives on my pizza. I thought that was pretty common. Why would someone hate you for your pizza preferences? (I understand the anchovy thing, though. Anchovies on part of a pizza end up flavoring the whole pizza, and people who hate anchovies really HATE anchovies!)
I’ve never had bean sprouts on pizza. Now I wonder if I should.
I’m also wondering if I should try a scoop of ice cream on pepperoni pizza. What flavor of ice cream did you use?

I hear you. I have watched both episodes with Pauline Collins, because I like Pauline Collins, and I still don’t get it.
I did, however, make my son a kick-ass 4th Dr. costume for Halloween. My husband is thrilled that his son likes Dr. Who, but I think he just likes watching it _with his dad_.
I like to watch TV procedurals (like _Criminal Minds_) to talk back to the TV about how stupid they are. This really annoys my husband, who says, if I think they are that stupid, why do I watch them? It’s kind of an MST3K thing that is hard to explain. But suffice to say, I watch a lot of stupid TV. Stupid _fictional_ TV. Even I can’t handle _Here Comes Honey Boo Boo_. My gawd, it hurt just to type the name.

I smoke. I never throw my cigarette butts down and I try to never force anyone to be in my smoke, but I love to smoke.
People are too fast to ban the things that OTHERS like, but death grip their own sacred cows.
I think that most people in prison should be there. I think that most prisoners are whiny bitches.
Tuna salad is gross.
California is full of nuts and New Yorkers are incredibly caught up on themselves and their nasty city.
I despise tattoos and would never hire someone with them and I think piercings are stupid.

Seriously? Historically in the UK it’s a male fan-boy thing, and Whovians were stereotypically spotty speccy overweight geeks who’d never get a girl (think [Duane Dibbley](http://reddwarf.wikia.com/wiki/Duane_Dibbley)). I guess the reboot has succeeded in making it accessible to both genders.

I watch Judge Judy, People’s Court and Dr Phil. Not every episode, but the one’s that interest me.
I am both a CrossFitter and training for multistory (which is interesting since they usually hate each other :)). I am a Public Affairs/Relations specialist that works for the Canadian government. When I was 19 and incredibly thin, I modeled so I am reasonably attractive although way curvier now and my friends all believe I lead some sort of charmed life (if only they knew).

Honestly almost nothing in this thread leads to a poster being “hated” by the board in general. Being a conservative, liberal, libertarian, Christian, Muslim, Atheist, non-Joss Whedon fan, or whatever, isn’t creating any hate in and of itself that I can see. _No one hates **Shodan** for being a Republican_ (as an example). I don’t really see Shodan accruing much hate at all, in fact. Irritation, sure. Hate? No. He’s not even Pitted all that often! There have been liberals who were (justly) Pitted more often than Shodan has been.
Here are things I’ve seen board members hating:

[li]Racism/Sexism/Homophobia[/li][li]Mistreating animals[/li][li]Conspiracy theories[/li][li]Blatant spam[/li][li]Trolling (not merely posting in a confrontational style, but actually transparently posting just to get a rise out of people)[/li][li]Telemarketers[/li][li]Inside jokes that people refuse to let die[/li][/ul]
Or maybe you all just have a different definition for “hate” than I and the common dictionary have. Is annoyance with a poster hate? Is impatience with someone who won’t acknowledge a valid point in a debate hate? Is mocking someone for being a dumbass in public hate?
It seems to me that “hate” requires something more extreme than your run-of-the-mill Internet gibes.
