Excuse me? What about the Joker?
The Joker’s _not_ a mobster? Since when?
Only the succesful mobsters, though. Everyone knows that dead men don’t wear plaid.
“'ere, Vinnie. This \*\*Miller \*\*fellah looks about a size 11. Fetch the cement.”

Only a mobster could be in “Construction” or “Removals” or “Insurance” and make it sound sinister. Errm, except for the “Insurance”, that’s always sinister…

Since always. He’s not a made made, he’s a psycho. I’ll concede that he generally has henchmen, but in no sense is he a part of the Mafia.

Good point about Bugsy, but that one was designed to make money _after_ it was cleaned. Generally, a little loss is acceptable in laundering.

Only mobsters drive exactly the speed limit in perfectly pristine cars.

Mobsters are the only people under 60 who still traditionally wear hats… and take them off while talking to a lady. (Caps are not hats)

Maybe in the comics, but the OP said “TV or movies”, and in the _Batman_ movie, he’s a lieutenant for Jack Palance’s mob boss Grissom. I don’t know if the old TV series or _The Batman_ animated series go into his origins, but he’s also a mob buttonman in _Batman - The Animated Series_, so that’s 2/4 for “Mobster”. Sure, he’s a psycho _now_ - a psycho mobster.
Although I’ve considered enlisting the aid of the Mafia to stop my daughter from using “-and I’m like; and she’s like…” for “say.”

Hey, **Slithy Tove** :

Apropos of nothing, I had a dream the other night about a mythical witch who would seek out and terrorize people who tried to cheat on their spouses. The witch’s name was “Slithy Tove.” Where does the phrase come from? I’m not sure why my brain conjured it up in that context.

(Sorry for the hijack, but I had to ask. 🙂 )

Gloat not, Slithy Tove, nor despair of thine obscurity in the eyes of the posteratti, for I myself have sqawked out far, far greater ignorances in many posts myself. The ultimate indiginity: for being so consistently in error that one is put on another’s _ignore_ list on a message board dedicated to the fight against _ignor_ance!
