Things to do in Boulder, CO?

I don’t know if they do tours for the general public, but when I was an Explorer Scout, our Post got a wonderful tour of NCAR (the National Center for Atmospheric Research). The building alone is a fascinating thing to see, and they had a lot of neat stuff inside.

Ironic note: They built NCAR in Boulder because of the very high winds there. The day we went up for that tour, we weren’t allowed to go in the main entrance. The sign said the door was locked due to wind, and the tour guide explained that if the door was opened with the stiff (80mph+) wind that day, we wouldn’t be able to get it closed again.

Think ahead, eh?

Since I’m going to Boulder in the first place for a conference with a bunch of people from NOAA about weather satellites, I really don’t think getting a tour will be a problem…

You could trot on down to the airport and take a glider ride (weather permitting).
