Things to do in Hawaii

And a cow-bird on its cow. I wouldn’t egret having that picture.

The wild chicken is called a moa. I love those guys! Kauai is the only island that still has any, because it’s the only island without mongooses.

Things to do in Hawaii:

*Ziplining - weeeeeeeeee!
*ATV riding
*Horseback riding
*Snorkeling (I bring my own snorkel and mask because it squicks me out to rent one. Flippers are cheap to rent)
*Hiking, guided or not
*Star watching
*Kayaking
*Whale watching (I’d make a daytrip to Maui if you can’t see them in Kauai)
*Daytrip to Oahu to see Pearl Harbor (totally worth it, IMO)
*Dinner on the beach
*Couples massage at a spa
*Surf lesson
*Watch the windsurfers

Here’s my free advice:

*If you’re a Costco member, use their link to rent a car. It’ll save you up to 25% off, gives you a $25 off coupon for a weekly rental, plus you’ll get a free additional driver. Join the car rental loyalty program (e.g Emerald Club) to bypass lines.

*If you’re staying at one of the chain hotels, join their loyalty program prior to traveling. You’ll rack up a lot of points for free rooms.

*Stop by the grocery and load up on snacks and drinks. Pack one of those collapsible soft-sided coolers which you can bring to the beach or on long hikes. Once you venture past the tourist areas, you could drive for hours without finding a restaurant.

*Bring a small pack of kleenexes because there aren’t restrooms everywhere either.

*Bring a small backpack as your carry-on so that you can take it on hikes, day trips.

*I also bring an Aquapac Waterproof carrier to stow my keys and $$ when I’m snorkeling. http://www.aquapac.net/usstore/erol.html#600X1149

Enjoy!!!
