I was eating a local restaurant that has book-lined shelves throughout. I spotted an interesting-looking one and pull it out, to see that about a third of it was cut off vertically. They must have bought a truckload of books and ripped them all down to a uniform depth.
It made me terribly sad.

For the shelf that is 3 perfectly aligned books, this is surely a better way than what I suggested. I was referring to the next one, where “Off Balance” and “Out of Order” are on the braces, and “Out of Control” appears to just be sitting on top. There you cannot have a continuous board through all 3 books.
Nod. But then, I don’t see the point of a bookshelf you can’t put books on…

What, even the trashy 50’s nurse novels? I think the world is better served if they’re turned into art. Or maybe old SF from the 60’s…in bookbags!
