Things you believe in but cannot prove

Which side is the Port side? ('Cause I can’t figure out which part of Florida is the Bow or Stern, either.)

I believe everyone has cancer already and it is just waiting inside us to be triggered. Those who don’t die from it are Gods Chosen Ones and will join Him for jelly and donuts in Heaven.
(See how nasty exclusive beliefs can be?)

I believe that “proneness to believing in conspiracy theories” is a type of mental disorder, and before too long will be recognised as such.

Well, they also want belly rubs and all food ever made.

That’s a nice thought. I would feel kind of bad about it, except that my dad was never into donuts and preferred preserves.

Adding on to the extraterrestrial bit: I also believe that somewhere out there are two civilizations in close enough proximity that they will eventually come in contact with each other. Actually, I believe that given the size of the 'verse, this isn’t all that uncommon, and multiple scenarios have played out over and over again (e.g., one technologically advanced, one not; both advanced, multiple Federation-like bodies, etc.)

A strong agnostic, I believe in airy-fairy things like a soul, but not much beyond the extraordinarily abstract.

I believe that there really are some people out there that are right and good and true, and that a few of them are politicians. While the corrupt may have an overall lock on the system and advancement fosters corruption, I think some senators’ and congresspeoples’ whose closets are skeleton-free eek in via circumstances (I guess I’m kind of looking at you Barak. Please don’t kill my optimism).

I believe bread and circuses is alive and in full force today.

Oh, and I still believe in cake.

I must have been in a right mood this morning. Not one of my proudest moments, I’ll admit. :frowning:

I believe in extraterrestial life. Not ufo’s.

I believe in nature and splendor in her glory.

ghosts gods and such I’ve never seen.

Science for five bucks, Alex:

I believe that eventually there will be discovered a mechanizism beyond random mutation that causes significant changes in inheritable physiology.

It might be something along the lines of several dozens generations of giraffes wanting longer necks can effect their DNA somehow, but it will more likely be something I can’t imagine.

I’ve got no emotion invested in this, and don’t believe in “higher powers” but it seems like evolution is a new enough, and complex enough, science that there are still going to be some major breakthroughs in understanding.

The cake is a lie. But I can’t back that up…not really.

I believe I can fly*.
