Of course I’m up early on my day off - we’ve got a house full of animals. And one of those animals, Scruffy, in fact, peed on the newly cleaned dining room carpet. grrrrrrr Then Cosmo pooed in there. Then Scruffy ate half of Cosmo’s puppy chow, and I think idiot Taz ate the other half. What’s so yummy about puppy chow?? Anyway, thus goes my morning so far. It is lovely out - temps in the low 60s. It won’t last, but the windows are open while it’s cool. We’re going to try to sail but there’s not supposed to be much wind - 5-10 mph - meh. At least we’re looking at 80s for the day. That’s all I’ve got so far. Just another freekin’ day in Paradise! 😃 _ **Happy BBBobbio Day!!!** _ ---

Back from the boat. There was no wind - the air was barely moving. We motored up the Patuxent River a couple of miles, but taking a boat ride is boring, so we headed back. I brought the boat back into the slip, which is not nearly as easy as \*\*FCD \*\*makes it look. We stopped by Michael’s to get the works for a couple of clocks, but there are several different sizes and we didn’t know what we needed, so we’ll have to go back. Then I went to Leonardtown to get some yarn to finish the lap afghan. Nice yarn shop, but $$$$$. One little ball of wool was almost $20!! Ah, well, it’s for charity. That’s all for now. Knitting shall soon ensue. ---

The temp job from hell is finally over. 😃 So, there is this \*gasoline company \* that is having a sweepstakes right now. The deal is that if you are seen with one their decals on your car, you instantly win a small denomination gas card and get entered to win the grand prize which is several thousand gallons of gas. Sounds good, right? Imagine that you are the person who is sent out to gas stations to look for said bumper stickers. Imagine that you’re sent to some of the worst neighborhoods in the largest city in your vicinity. (Cashiers behind bulletproof glass, the food behind the glass with them, the smell of urine coming from the outside of the building, large dogs roaming the streets, etc.) Imagine how sketchy you look suspiciously _inspecting_ people’s cars as they pull into the station. Now imagine having to stand at each one for an hour with already activated gas cards worth several hundred dollars in your back pocket. Initially I almost turned the job down, but the money was way too good. I hear they’ve got more rounds coming up next week but THERE’S NO CHANCE IN HELL that I would do that again. Even in the best neighborhood, I won’t be there. One bright spot in my day yesterday was a lovely man named Rudy who ran one of the stations. I got swamped at this place because he and his wife called all their friends to come down to the station and put stickers on their cars. (Technically against the written rules, but ok’d by the powers that be… Besides, how would I honestly be able to tell the difference as to whether you just put a sticker on your car or whether it had been there awhile?) Anyways, as I was being mobbed by about 25 people, Rudy and his wife did crowd control and even gave me a bottle of water since it was a hot day. They were very, very nice. So, that’s my story. I’m glad it’s done. As a matter of fact, tonight we’re going to one of my favorite restaurants for dinner to celebrate. 🙂 ---
