Cream horns (like these) or anything else covered with powdered sugar.
A very ripe peach or plum.
Fruit, mostly. Peaches, because they’re drippy. Cherries, because the pits can go right into the sink. Bananas, because when I’m done, I can put the peel right into the compost bucket under the sink.
It’s shared space, but in a household of three people total, there’s long stretches of the day when I’ll be the only one in or near the kitchen. And it only takes a few minutes to dare to eat a peach.
I don’t need to eat over a sink. It’s just easier.
The peaches are in a bowl on the counter next to the sink. Why take it somewhere else to eat it, along with a plate and an adequate supply of paper towels, when I have the sink and the paper towel dispenser right there? Especially when it’s only going to be for a couple of minutes anyway.
I can’t think of a reason to spend more time coming and going, getting ready and cleaning up, than I’ll spend actually eating that peach. But YMMV.
Nothing. Plates and paper towels are close at hand and let me sit down. Maybe it’s just that I don’t eat anything that is impossible to eat without dribbling more than a plate held under my chin can handle. Or that the convenience of being able to sit down outweighs to horrible inconvenience(?) of needing a plate.
The only things I eat over the sink are red, juicy, homegrown tomatoes.
You can have your fancy cutlery, your fancy napkins, and your fancy seat at the table.
Nothing says summer to me like eating a tomater over the sink.
mmm
Yeah, why wouldn’t I want to sit down and enjoy it rather than wolfing it down over the sink? The sink? Not appetizing. I don’t get it either.
Well, I see a difference. I savor peaches. I easy them slowly and lasciviously. I don’t want to wolf by preach down while standing over the sink. I want to enjoy it at my leisure.
Also, I don’t put pits in the sink.
What i do near the sink is cut fruit and veggies. Because the peels, etc. Can go right into the sink or compost bin, because I’m next to the sink so it’s easy to rinse off the knife and put it in the drying rack.
I’ve eaten pretty much anything that can be held in the hand over the sink at one point. Cold fried chicken is a favorite. But there are some things that I’ll walk around the house and eat, such as a sandwich or a slice of pizza that’s structurally sound.
I was thinking cold fried chicken as I was driving today, and you beat me to it
What is drippy or messy about cold fried chicken?
I’m confused!
Mangos of course.
Does your garbage disposal handle cherry pits? I’ve never even tried that.
We don’t have a garbage disposal.
Primitive, I know, but we’ve been able to manage somehow.
