Things you have learned to avoid buying on ebay

There are companies that sell “universal” laptop chargers too, Best Buy sells them (which means Newegg does too). I’ve got one from Kensington, I think. There’s a hard-to-move switch on the bottom you switch to pick from two possible voltages, and a set of color-coded tips (color coded to the voltage range they work with) for the end that goes in the computer. The one I have even has a USB charging slot on it.

Dunno how these compare price-wise, but when you realize you’ve broken the charging cable for your laptop on the day you are flying out of state to go on vacation, these things are pretty handy. I think I paid about $100 for mine at Best Buy (I think it was this one. Incidentally, I found the same product for $10 cheaper in a vending machine in DFW later that day.)

I’ve always been wary on eBay. You gotta lean close to the screen and read all the fine print. If the price is too good to be true, it’s probably not true. People particularly enjoy selling things like XBox boxes and CDs with information on where to get iPhones cheaply, etc.

Clothing is a no-no-been burned on that.
But autoparts-great luck-I have gotten parts at least 80% less than at local stores.
