Crescent wrenches. I have at least 8 of them, of varying sizes. Tape measures. At last count, I have 4. How many does one really need? And we keep one in a drawer in the kitchen, and, of course, that’s the one that gets used the most. ---

Various kitchen utensils. Several frying pans of various sizes because you never know. I got rid of most duplicated things when we moved: woodworking tools were likely the worst (best) items. Are four planes too many? Sold my coin collection many years ago. I have three coins left (two silver Eagles and a quarter ounce mint gold coin) and will likely sell those as well. ---

What I would really like is something like a Bilenky Viewpoint. I’m taller than my wife, and my shoulders are broad enough that when we’re on the tandem, she doesn’t have a very good view of the road, which makes her feel claustrophobic. Hence, we rarely take it out for a spin. If she were in front, we’d probably ride two-up more often. And I’m ok with swapping our current tandem (a beautiful Keith Lippy custom) for a Viewpoint or similar. ---

I’ve had my eye on a case gong like that for some time. A 6-inch gong like that would fit in nicely with the rest of the collection. They appear on eBay from time to time, but I’m always leery about buying one lest it not work. I can usually nurse them back to health (I have an 11-inch turtle gong that’s been on my work bench for years pending a new main drive sprocket), but it’s a labor of love and I’m getting too old and lazy. It’s not like there’s a store to order parts from; these things were last manufactured in the 1960s. Good luck at even finding someone who knows what you’re talking about if you get into repairing this stuff. There’s about 2500 hard core Gamewell guys (yes, guys, I’ve never met a woman who shows the least but of interest) in the world who share the pain. It’s a pretty small club. When Providence got rid of their house gongs, there were a bunch of 15-inch gongs that seemed to simply vanish. The sound those made was amazing - and would wake the dead. When it was about to strike, you’d hear the hammer drop about 0.05 seconds before the “bong,” which was just enough time to mentally prepare yourself for the aural assault. I’ve wanted one of those for decades. ---

Dictionaries. Might have a couple of dozen. Not 1st editions or rare examples, just classic, specialist or merely curious collections of words/terms and their meanings from standards like the Concise OED, the Macquarie Dictionary to an eclectic range such as the Chambers Science & Technology Dictionary, The Dictionary of Politics, The Dictionary of Troublesome Words, Ambrose Bierce’s The Devils Dictionary through to Douglas Adams’ Meaning of Liff. Might even be able to produce one myself. ---
