I think the people who take the Pit as lisence to be seething, viscious assholes to other posters are pathetic, and that the entire concept that one utlizes a special place to spew his hatred toward other posters is immature and ill-befitting a board created in the spirit of fighting ignorance. And I hate sports. ---

[/quote] Yeah, fiscal conservatism is actually not uncommon here, even if it’s not a majority opinion. There are lots of well-respected Dopers who could be considered fiscally conservative, and there have been plenty of intelligent and non-acrimonious discussions on the subject. Social conservatism is certainly a more marginal position here, but even that won’t necessarily lead to flame wars in all cases. Depends how it’s expressed. It’s a bad thing to admit in late September when they’ve completed a second-half run of 56-27 to grab the Wild Card.
