Merchandising the hell out of everything. Do we really need toys, board games, clothes, cereal, and everything else for every single new movie? Advertising for eons before the movie actually comes out. Dark Knight Returns, I’m looking at you. YES, we know it exists. Go away. I’m incredibly glad I don’t watch TV very often. Also, the need for people always to find someone to hate and put down. ‘Oh, I’m a good person! I’m not racist, I’m not sexist, I’m not homophobic. You’re a furry? You’re a freak! You’re a geek? What a loser! You’re asexual? What the hell is wrong with you?’ I only hate assholes. ---

Consider the OP seconded. I’m also in with the crowd that wishes the world would get over reality TV. Add celebrity worship, softcore porn\*, science journalism, the gender-brain-differences canard, reaction videos on YouTube\*\*, hypocritical Biblical literalism, ID, faked enthusiasm, the word “extreme”, the concept of “skank”/“slut”, the infantilization of _everyone_, AP tests, caffeine…I guess there’s a lot. - I like erotic art, but softcore porn is the worst of both worlds: neither artistic nor pornographic. Diamonds. At this time of year, I cannot reach the radio to change the station fast enough when I’m driving and a diamond commercial comes on. :rolleyes: They’re a total scam, kept artificially expensive by a large diamond cartel. When I become supreme overlord of the world, a diamond ring is going to cost the same as a cup of coffee. ---

Using the word ‘momentarily’, when ‘in a moment’ is what is meant. They’re not even remotely the same thing, although one could say “the plane will be leaving momentarily in a moment…hang on.” ---

A belief that science threatens religion. If your God is so small that you need to shove him in the gaps of science and closing those gaps means God stops existing, he isn’t much of a God. Halloween as a merchandising holiday that adults participate in as more than enablers for children. ---

The article went on to imply, if not directly say that it would probably be in a company’s best interest to intentionally drive that 5% to its competitors. White trash cheapskates and middle-aged male assholes were the biggest customer service annoyances) To add another thing I wish the world was tired of: I wish the world would get tired of both reporting and paying attention to every stupid-ass astronomical-odds calamity that might befall someone. People don’t really understand risk, and trumpeting that there are pedophiles out there, and that every school is in grave danger of having a shooting does nothing but rile up the Chicken Littles of the world, without actually doing anything. Fact is, there have ALWAYS been pedophiles, yet back in the day, abuse wasn’t more prevalent than now, despite less news coverage and less strict parental control and protection. There have also always been school shootings as well; the current media coverage just makes it a more likely option for some despondent kid. ---

[/QUOTE] Sorry, I just imagined a peasant with a crossbow going wild in a town square… I agree with most of ye…I wish the world would get tired of leaping on and humping to death any new concept, thus making sure that all results of it are of a crappy quality in the urge to make a buck. Yeah I know it’s the way things are, but it still sucks. See: crappy knockoffs of movies. And I know there hasn’t been a huge controversy about the violent games/movies = violent kids “connection” recently but it still irritates me.
