What item/thing do you want that your significant other won’t allow you to have? Assuming the most lighthearted/fun definition of “allow” and egalitarian partnerships and all that. You can a mention a cat or dog in your response, but you have to include something else weirder. The weirder, the better. Also provide the SO’s justifation for saying no, if you got one. Sr. Weasel won’t allow me to get a Giant African Land Snail. I look at the snail, and all I can think is RAT LUNGWORM! But then, I regularly hear PSAs about avoiding rat lungworm by washing produce and getting rid of garden snails. I must think further in order to answer the OP. ---

When we became engaged, I had been riding motorcycles for about 15 years. She felt they were too dangerous, and her feelings on this were so strong I got rid of my bike as a sacrifice to marital bliss. I later got the next best thing which is a convertible. My daughter’s boyfriend recently bought a little Ninja 250. He let me ride it around the neighborhood. A shadow of my former Seca 750 but I had not lost any of my old abilities–it was just like riding a bike 🙂 I have six guitars, three amps, and an Egyptian oud and other than some teasing this has never been a problem. 🆒 ---

A ferret. When the kids were younger, they wanted a ferret and I liked the idea. My wife said no and I went along. Don’t really care now, but that is all I can think of. My wife has been very good about my “toys”. Wood working stuff, D&D figures, far too many books that I am now slowly donating away several hundred at a time. Even a 65" LED TV though she could not understand the need for one. All of this together falls far short of one “mid-life crisis car” so as I buy cheap cars and run them into the ground, she is actually getting off pretty cheap. She was good about the rooftop solar panels also but they have actually paid for themselves. ---
