Fluer will be the next DADA. I have been sure of this since the end of Book IV when she mentioned getting a job at Hogwarts to improve her English.

I thought about Voldemort possibly being related to Harry in some way, but wouldn’t he have been shown in he Mirror of Erised in the first book when Harry saw his whole family?

Ron and Hermione will defenatly hook up. Probably with Hermione breaking Victor Krums heart when she chooses Ron over him.

We do know that Voldemort’s curse did something to Harry to make them more alike: they may not necessarily have had a connection before that (and its just that no one had ever done what Lily did for Harry)

I forgot to mention more on that mysterious aunt figure: Arabella Figg. She’s in the next book, and is supposedly the same Figg from an off-the-cuff mention in from Book 1 (a seeming muggle back then). Pretty likely that she’s the next DADA… which of course doesn’t bode too well for her…

And how about Crookshanks? We know that he’s a kneazle, and kneazles “can lead their owner home when they are lost” according to that animal textbook thing that was published last year. That’s too perfect a subtle connection to pass up getting used in the series… but how, and where?

Here’s a list of compiled things that Rowling has said about Book 5.

I haven’t figured out how to do those spoiler thingy-dingys so don’t read this if you really don’t want to know what I think. [giggle]

I think we’re going to find out that Harry’s momma, Lily, was an Auror, and becoming an Auror is what the Order of the Phoenix is about. Harry’s daddy, James, probably was an Auror too.

We’ll see Sirius, and Professor Lupin, and Wormtail again.

Draco the Coward is going to at some point see that Voldemort is really awful, find courage, come over to the good side, maybe save Hermione, and then get killed.

Neville’s going to become a hero. 🙂

Hagrid’s going to die ☹ either by some monster he’s trying to save or by the giants he’s gone to seek out.

Okay. That’s enough.

What’s an Auror?

Ok, I really think that Rowlings original plan for the end of the book was for Harry to die. Kind of as a martyr. She supposedly have an outline for the entire series already planned.

I believe with the overwhelming popularity of the series she will be forced to change some things around to appease her publisher and the audience. As a result, I do think a major player will die, most likely Dumbledore or another major player. But I do not think she will kill off the trio. I also don’t think she will kill off the lovable Hagrid. I think that’s too tragic.

Now that’s a nice connection: and Rowling set that up all the way back in Book 1!

Well, she’s said that the death in the next book will be “horrible to write.” That suggests that it wont be just another Cedric (a nice guy who we don’t know all that well that dies).

Question that everyone seems to have: if there are spectators to the three challenges in Book 4, what are they watching? In the water test: can they see what’s going on? In the hedge maze: are they staring at hedges? They shouldn’t be able to see anything, because the bad guy is very obviously fooling around inside, doing all sorts of nefariousness, and if the auidence can see through the hedges, why can’t they see him doing his deeds? For that matter, what is the whole point of the plot in the first place, if all that is needed is to get Harry to touch any particular something, and the bad guy already has his confidence? Did Rowling forget to tell us about some special magically protections placed on Harry?

Arabella Figg is really Randell Flagg. JK Rowling is Stephen King who, frusturated with his lack of sucess as a childeren’s author, stole the main character from “The Books of Magic,” dressed up in drag, and created a whole new persona. The truth will be revealed when the fifth Harry Potter book and the fifth Dark Tower book are actually companion volumes…

Seriously, I agree with some of the predictions… Dumbledore will die. Voldemort is related to Harry in some way-- maybe an uncle or a friend of the family. Maybe he does do something to the Dursley’s… maybe he’s the reason they adopted Harry…

Ron will get with Hermoine, and I will be jealous. Lots of horrible slash fiction will continue to the written. Cho will die, and Harry will get sullen about the deaths of people close to him. Teenage sexuality will either be ignored, downplayed, or handled badly. the books will either get worse to go with the movies or get better to get away from them. If Rowling’s clever, someone will have an owl named “Yo-yo.”

I don’t think Voldemort is simply related to Harry. Too easy, and we’d have to know much more about the Riddles for that to be properly set up.

One odd thing about Voldemort is that his followers seem to hate mudbloods… but isn’t Voldemort a mudblood himself?

Something big is going to happen with \*\*Neville Longbottom \*\*.

His parents are in the loony bin, he is raised by his domineering witch-grandmother and \*everything \* always seems to happen to him. Neville represents the dork who just can’t cut a break in all of us

He is somehow going to be intregal to the plot and have a break through from gangly goofus to getting the hang of things.

My guess is because \*\*Trevor \*\* his frog is really a death eater-animorph in hiding of some kind.

In the end, (last book.) Neville’s parents will have snapped out of it and regain their wits.

Now that I sit here and think about things…

In book one, in the Leaky Cauldron, the first person to shake his hand is Doris Crockford. This has always stuck with me and maybe she will make a reappearance. Dunno, just a WAG.

But what has been niggling me for some time in #4is the entire Fred and George Weasely winning that large bet at the World Quidditch Cup. They were dead on stating that Ireland wins but Krum would would get the snitch. What if Fred and George had \*borrowed \* the time turner thingie to learn the outcome of that game? I think Fred and George are destined for greatness in #5.\* They better not die.\* Percy, Dumbledore, Hagrid, Sirius can, but not Fred and George.I won’t allow it :::stomps foot:::

and Ginny lusts after Harry. Harry lusts after Cho. Cho dies some by He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Name-Who-Must-Have-Energizer-Batteries-Inside-Him-Because-He-Keeps-On-Going and ginny is there in the clutch to comfort Harry. The Malfoys are involved, though Draco starts seeing how bad his father really is and in #7 he is now Harry’s friend. Or He dies because of a back fire of some sort involving his father.

None of the Big Three will get killed off. Ron is the comedy and poor kid who lives in the shadows of siblings and genius friends and hasn’t found himself yet. Hermione represents the brains. Harry the action figure. Can’t kill any of them. ( Well, you could.)

I have no thoughts on Snape. Drawing a blank.

Voldemort is a mudblood. His father was a muggle, IIRC.

One thing that’s been gnawing at me:

When the people Voldemort killed came out of his wand at the end of GOF, James appeared out-of-order. Unless I’ve got the sequence of events mixed up, James battled Voldemort to give Lilly time to get Harry out. James died. Then Lilly was killed defending Harry. Then the curse on Harry rebounded.

Yet, James came out of the wand before Lilly, but he should have come out after (since he was killed just before Lilly was.)

Dunno if that means anything, but (assuming I haven’t mixed up the timeline of events) I think that more happened that night than we’ve been told so far…

It apparently was just an error. At the very least, they fixed the order (James came out last) for the book-on-CD version.

Any guesses as to what Rowling has in store for Barty Crouch? I’m guessing he gets captured by the big V and spills some precious secrets before resigning his post.

Ginny dies, in some way Harry can blame himself for (maybe she snuck out to see where he was going and gets whacked). He’ll get comfort from a future love-interest, but it won’t develop until book 6.

Ron and Hermione hook up and then break up, and their animosity towards each other leads to a temporary division of the trio, though I’m not sure which will stay by Harry. The other won’t turn against him, but may accidentally harm him trying to prove herself…OK, I see Hermione in this position.

I also agree with some of the earlier speculations about Dumbledore, though I think it will actually be put off until next book.

Didn’t Barty Crouch get his soul sucked out by a dementor? I was under the impression that part of that was having no memory of a previous life. If he doesn’t have a soul could he even hold any info that Voldemort would want to know. How would he know these secrets in the first place? Am I totally misunderstanding your question? I think we have seen the last of Barty Crouch. He is no longer a useful character.

What in the blue fire is taking Rowling _so long_ to write Book 5? Does anyone believe the rumors that she is suffering from writers block? This is the longest time in between books that she’s gone since she first introduce the series. The GOF was published in 2000. The Order of the Phoenix should be out already!
