That’s nothing! Here’s [woven bacon stuffed with cheese!](http://www.holytaco.com/if-i-die-bacon-related-death-id-it-be-because)

No, still too rabbit-foody, right?

Try a [woven-bacon-and-sausage log.](http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/28/dining/28bacon.html)

Not quite perfection . . . there’s still some **lean** bits in there . . .

Eureka!

Well, a bar I frequent has a sandwich called The Dobbie, named after one of the frequent patrons. It is basically a french dip, cheese, with a spicy ailoi, center cut bacon, and two fried eggs. And it is AWESOME! Not nearly as outrageous, but it isn’t standard fare either.

My 16 y.o. daughter weighs about 105 lbs. and frequently mentions wanting to eat healthy. Last week she finished her work shift at 9:15 and wanted some food before going home.

The [Steak n’ Shake Frisco Melt](http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r89/jinky0u812/Food/?action=view&current=friscomelt1.jpg). With fries and a shake.

The next morning her mom told her the Frisco Melt has 1200 calories. And it has 93 grams of fat.

That broke the young thing’s heart. She really liked the Frisco Melt.

With the fries and shake the meal is about 2300 calories and 135 gms of fat.

I think ‘‘high fat’’ gets the shaft nowadays. As my nutritionist told me, ‘‘Fat doesn’t make you fat. Sugar makes you fat.’’ That’s an oversimplification, but fat is, on the whole, more filling and really okay as long as you don’t over do it.

Calorically, the Double Down is… well, there’s worse. You can easily fit 540 calories into a 1500 calorie day with a little finagling.

But I’ll bet your home version is way healthier than the KFC version. All the salt and processed meat. I dunno what it is about KFC, but it takes approximately 5 minutes to travel my digestive system, therefore I avoid.

It’s helpful to note that 1 cup of cottage cheese is not equivalent in weight to a small order of McDonald’s french fries and that the sodium content in McDonald’s french fries is highly variable.

1500 calories? Holy shit, that is 300 cal less than I eat in an entire day  Not to mention how long I would be on the crapper with the shits from that much fat

Hell, I get guilty if I put 2 pieces of bacon on a toasted cheese sandwich ☹

Hmmm. SNS webpage says 800 calories for the sandwich, 60 grams of fat.

Regular fries and a regular choc. shake will add 440 and 710 cals. respectively.

The Orange County Fair is going on right now, where you can get deep-fried butter. That’s right - they take a churro, fill it with a butter and cream cheese mixture, then deep fry it.

This isn’t so much of a rant as a “WTF?!?! That’s DISGUSTING!!!”

I’m just in awe of whoever manages to come UP with this kind of shit. And to think I felt guilty for dipping crackers in hummus instead of mushrooms.

(I think someone started a thread about deep-fried butter awhile ago. Blech.)

Most people don’t weigh food before eating, so compare the fries to half a cup of cottage cheese (considered a standard serving) and the fries still have less sodium by a large margin. My point is not that fries are a more healthful alternative, but merely that salty and bland tastes are not reliable indicators of sodium content.

That’s good news, I suppose.
I was going by the info on some other sites:
[Calorie Lab](http://calorielab.com/restaurants/steak-n-shake/frisco-melt/54/48206)
[The Daily Plate](http://www.thedailyplate.com/nutrition-calories/food/steak--n-shake)
[CalorieCount](http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-steak-n-frisco-melt-i55827)
And [livestrong.com](http://livestrong.com) which lists 780 calories if you order the melt w/o dressing.

But I’ll believe the official site. I encountered some problems at the other places. (The figures given were the same for a “sandwich” and a “meal”.) They may well all be referencing a single incorrect source.

How can that thing have 150 calories for 2/3 a cup and 1100% cholesterol?

I’d try pork brains, but not when they’re prepared like that.
