# Think of a British city that isn't London

Since somebody was going to ask this question [after this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=771699), if you exclude London what is the first British city you can think of? (I’m not doing a poll because image the options you’d have to put up.) I’d say Manchester; maybe because I’ve heard a couple of times it’s London’s cultural rival in the UK, maybe it’s “Coronation Street”.

I’d say Manchester, because my company has an office there and I’m working (from New York) on a project involving that office, and then Edinburgh, because I was there recently (we’re asking about British cities, not English, right? And Scotland is still part of Great Britain until they decide they’re not, which they haven’t yet, right?).
