Munich came to me first. Second was Magdeburg, mostly because the Sack of Magdeburg (1631) is a pivotable part of the Ring of Fire series ([1632 series - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring_of_Fire_(series))) by Eric Flint, which is one of my favorite series of all time. ---

Schweinfurt. It’s mostly on my mind because tomorrow’s the 72nd anniversary of “Black Thursday”- the 8th Air Force’s extremely costly second raid on the ball-bearing plants of Schweinfurt (Oct 14, 1943), and a mission my grandfather and his bomber were on. ---
