I certainly hope that by posting the opinion that I get annoyed by the type of thread Lobsang posted that you think I was calling Lobsang an “insecure fuck-up with suicidal tendencies”. Because I wasn’t, and I certainly don’t think that way. I don’t believe anyone else did either - though I’ll admit that I skimmed a lot of the one liner posts. If I had seen someone say that, I would have have defended him from that kind of sentiment. Just as I posted in your defense when someone accused you of needing to step away from the keyboard (wrt laserkitty posts). Just because someone is on the opposite side of an issue as me, doesn’t mean that I go balls out vicious - that is not my style at all. I do appreciate that you expect better of me as your opinion does count with me, but I really do not understand why this thread raises your ire so much, when I’ve seen threads time and again that (to me) are far more brutal than this one ever was. ---

Y’all complain about all the attention-grabbing “I’m Leaving” threads; I’ve seen just as many attempts to take earnest and heartfelt stuff written in MPSIMS and come in here and just be nasty and brutal and trash on people who are already feeling down. Sure, yes it would have. But the Pit rules have changed since Hama posted her thread - you no longer can post parody threads without linking to the thread that spawned the Pit thread. No matter how or what Demo said, people would have wanted a link, and someone would have provided one. While I don’t agree with OxyMoron’s twisting of Lobsang’s name, I do agree with him and Slacker when they say that this is what the Pit is for: calling out behaviour you don’t like, or that annoys you. It’s also for people to come in and vehemently disagree, as you did with Demo. ---

Before this nonsense, there have been several other threads from MPSIMS about various topics that have gotten taken to the Pit and had people piss all over not just the thread, but the very _idea_ that someone would go to that forum and put their personal baggage out there. Actually, I do not belittle community - I’ve found quite a bit here. In point of fact, one thing that communities do is give people slaps upside the head when they’re being whiny and solipsistic. Communities are _not_ support groups. But even supposing that what people want is a safe online place to reveal their neuroses, that’s fine - but that’s a blog. Want to make sure that the only people who comment are those who will hold your hand and tell you how extra-special-wonderful you are? Get a blog, they’ve ways you can do that. And blogging is now where many of us in this thread spend more of our “social” online time. “Social” ignorance is not something that I find particularly important to fight - it’s fighting public, factual ignorance that is the core of this message board. The more I think about it, the more I think this board really would be better off minus MPSIMS, which has outlived its usefulness. There are SDMB-themed communities in LiveJournal - that should really be the new MPSIMS. ---

I was always mostly a MPSIMS kind of gal myself although I do enjoy a good crawl through the pit on occasion. Since I started my Live Journal, my MPSIMS posting has dropped drastically. I think that may be why a lot of people here seem to think that I am uninformed or some kind of interloper. I love this board. I know my lastest few posts have not been my finest moments but being called a mother-licking fuck-twat! kind of makes my ass twitch. ---

In list format! 1. What the fuck is the venom and anger all about, Miller and SolGrundy? Is this your personal mission from jeebus in order to earn a toaster or a nice pleather jacketed book? 2. Why the fuck do we have to be happy, nice, pleasant, and friendly to every fuck who joins this fucking message board? Or that we can’t say something in objection about what someone does when they’re down (if what they do is annoying or stupid)? Oh and before you say it, You can say what you want, but you’re the ones telling us _we_ shouldn’t say how we feel. 3.
