# "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo" was there a Bacon's dining room scene?

The Tokyo raid was planned in the dining room of Bacon’s resort. AFAIR there was a scene in the movie of that event. However, when I saw the movie the other night, the scene was not there. Is the scene a figment of my aging imagination? Or, has it been lost from some copies of the film?

There is another movie made around the same time that I often conflate with _Thirty Seconds over Tokyo_ called _Purple Heart_. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen either so I can’t tell you if either one had the dining room scene.

_ **The Purple Heart** _ with Dana Andrews is about the “war crimes” trial the Japanese held for the airmen they captured after the Doolittle Raid. I haven’t seen it in decades, but it’s one of my all-time favorites. I suppose it’s possible there was such a scene in it, but I would expect _ **Thirty Seconds over Tokyo** _ to be a more likely choice. I can see Spencer Tracey as Jimmy Doolittle presiding over it.

I think ole [David Thomas](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs3kKHhG4m0) would provide more, gravitas?
