It is a beautiful story! And a wonderful illustration of the difference between pity and love. Thank you, Mycroft Holmes for sharing this.
I refute this allegation. I was going to trip him up on the 5 yard line, but got distracted by what the cheerleaders were doing.
Let that kid have his fun! I work with mentally retarded adults (right now my clients range in age from 19 to 49). Any one of my guys would be freaking thrilled to have something like this happen to them. And unless some asshole ruins it for him by explaining that he was allowed to win, this guy will remember what happened during that football game for the rest of his life. It will probably be the first thing he tells to everyone he meets from now on.
Gah! Don’t be so cynical, y’all.
But I bet he realizes, AT SOME LEVEL, he was allowed to score.
Read it all; the anecdote as well as the glurge. (Don’t panic; it’s from Snopes.)
Ah, Rilch, searching for either Jake Porter or Waverly turns up nothing there…
@#%%(@@~!
Go to “Glurge Gallery” and scroll down to the story entitled “Chush, Chush, Sweet Varlets” (don’t look at me; I didn’t come up with the title).
