I have to brag because my initiatory pitting was done by no one else but the mighty **Fenris.** It was, I believe, about my assertion that the local Domino’s was staffed by pinheads and that Papa Johns was the better choice. Epic stuff. ---

What advice would you give to someone who _wants_ to be pitted? How would a person go about making that come to pass? Without breaking the rules, of course. On second thought, maybe behaving in such a way as to cause oneself to be pitted is, by definition, against the rules. Would you consider that “trolling”? Think about it, won’t you? Years ago, when we had BBSes instead of Internet forums, I used to post on WWIV boards that had War/Flame areas. I had handles like War Pig, Dr. Ruthless & Beelzebubba and came in with guns blazing. It was a troll’s heaven. Then, WWIV gave birth to the Asshole Factory. It was more than just random flaming. It was the gathering place of the most obnoxious individuals in existence. There was Hambone, the smarmy, slimy sleazebag who would give every new female who logged in the “Pinkies or Brownies” quiz. There was Lovely Woman!, this really deranged lesbian who would post drunk and talk about how all men would be strung up, lobotomized, and made into “sperm cows” and thus turn the country into a Sapphic society. There was another chick who claimed to be a lawyer. I pissed her off to the point where she said she was going to sue me, but never did. Hambone eventually tried to get Asshole Factory made into a newsgroup, but was unsuccessful. It was about that time I got burned out on those types of boards anyway. I occasionally get the urge to relapse back into my old self, but it doesn’t last too long. I’ve considered pitting popular posters like **iampunha** and **Opalcat** for no reason at all, but it would just be wasted effort for a 2 second joke. Besides, the BBQ Pit often slides away from being a Flame board. The threads sometimes turn into something unexpected, like realizing the OP was actually a cry for help, and the remainder of the thread turns into a support group. That’s what makes The Straight Dope miles above the rest.🙂 ---
