Well, after reading over every reply, I now plan on walking softly and carrying a big stick. I appriciate all the advice and thoughts. Sorry about not putting cites for the names I listed; I just thought they’ve been pitted so many times, it’d be obvious to find a topic about them anywhere… ---

To my surprise, I’ve come to love the Pit. Mostly it’s a place to let off some steam at life’s unavoidable annoyances. Occasionally it gets really ugly. As either **OpalCat** or **FairyChatMom** once noted, “We’ve been known to eat our own.” When I come upon one of those threads, I stop reading it because it tends to permanently prejudice me against both the pitted and the pitter. If you get pitted for being a jerk, the classy thing to do is to apologize and then shut up. If you get pitted just because someone finds you annoying, it’s probably best to stay calm and let others fight the battle for you. About the only thing I admire about raisinbread is that (as far as I know), he never shows up at his pittings. My favorite Pits are the stupid ones started by some Newbie With Attitude that get hijacked to BF Egypt. ---

aww **leechy** there you go being all, well, **leechy** on me. I didn’t mean it like that. I meant _matter_ in the darkness of the pit sense which is very different to the {{{{{{{{MPSIMS}}}}}}}}}} sense. Almost anti-matter sort of. People have to be irritated enough to pit you. I seem to fly far enough under radar to escape that despite holding opinions that bring other folks here often enough = I do not matter in a pit sense. I think this is a good thing. However, I am afraid I can not in any honesty agree that bubbaleechie is the cutest baby in the world. The world contains puppies and kittens. Cutest human baby no contest, just not best in show of all baby critters. Sorry. Now, do I get my own pitting? Come on, make my regular vanity searches show up something other than a discussion on cloning extinct critters 😉 ---

I’ve been a lurker here now for a bit… It may be silly, but man, it’s weird having some of you post in my topic. People who I’ve followed in posts in topics for weeks now… Some of you are like celebrity status to me…Most of you in here, as a matter of fact. I’ve read many topics from over the years and feel like I know a lot of you already. So it’s strange to finally meet you all and have you chat with me in here and offer your advice. I’m looking over some pit threads now, but I don’t see any that I would respond to. Some are filled with such anger… ---

I’ve never been Pitted, but then I’ve got like twelve hundred posts and I doubt anyone but me remembers a single one of 'em, so I don’t expect to get Pitted unless I forget which medication is past its expiration date and post something hugely dumb Under The Influence. Oh, and mebbe things’re different for y’allses, but in my circles the “pink or brown” question refers to nipplage. ---

Point of order: if you’ve been Pitted, but the pitting backfired horribly on the OP, does that count as a “true” pitting? I’ve been [pitted](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=168565) [three](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=163292) [times](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=151893), and in every case the OP caught the brunt of the board’s ire rather than myself.
