I don’t see how they can be true to the song and still make it a teen movie: will they have the woman now in her late 20s stalking the rock star and trying to win him back? Or (as the article suggests) will it just be about a bunch of high school kids and the only resemblance to the song be the inclusion of a skateboard (sorry, sk8board, or sk8eboard, or whatever)? But I guess there’s a new generation of teen-movie-goers every few years, and it can’t be any worse than the upcoming (and doubtless similarly-plotted) Grease 3. Can it? ---

this is perhaps the worst idea for a movie ever. except perhaps ‘swept away’. i hope it stars avril lasagne, because god knows we need more 2 bit 6 month careers popstars appearing in films. a world chock of full of people with great ideas for films, and studios still conform to some MTV demographic. ---

I shudder to think what else could be in the pipeline if the studios want to try the old Max Baer Jr. (_Macon County Line, Ode To Billy Joe_) gimmick of making films based on popular songs. Didn’t they learn their lesson from _Harper Valley PTA_ and _The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia_? ---
