heh. I saw a comedian/juggler once who said he used to juggle with kittens, but it was hard because they hold on to your hand. “No, no, really, I love kittens. I’ve had _hundreds_ of kittens…” ---

That’s the way the men do it. Men actually have to stick their floor exercise landings rather than being allowed to take a step back. Clumsy and awkward isn’t acceptable, but the dancing is just pagentry and it doesn’t belong in an olympic sport IMO. Womens gymnastics is way too much about pagentry. ---

To add two cents into the “rhythmic gymnastics” convo If THIS is what they showed during the Olympics I think more and more people would be all over that. But instead we get the ribbon crap. I am sorry to all gymnasts out there, but dancing around with a ribbon looks like something a 5 year old girl should be doing. It just looks stupid. Things like this however capture our attention cuz it’s something we couldn’t do. I am not saying I can just jump into a floor routine with a ribbon and win gold, but I can certainly watch the tv and think “Yeah…not that hard”. The ball thing on the other hand, I watch that and think “HOLY SHIT! THATS AWESOME” and the fact that I couldn’t even get CLOSE to doing something like that makes it so much more impressive. ---
