I need one character, one symbol, that shows supreme disgust. Please. It would be so much easier than trying to explain. Anybody got a Nike-like swipe in mind? ---

How about the [yuk face](http://i.imgur.com/WMJlA.jpg), a [swastika](http://i.imgur.com/CLij0.jpg), [the artist formerly known as Prince symbol](http://i.imgur.com/ZMfBX.png), or [truck nutz](http://i.imgur.com/x0EFF.jpg)? I think [yuk face](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Yuk) is probably the best one I can think of: “_Mr. Yuk is a trademarked graphic image, created by the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, and widely employed in the United States in labeling of substances that are poisonous if ingested._” My mom used to put Mr. Yuk on cleaner bottles, so me and my sister would stay away from the chemicals! ---

Probably about ten years ago now I designed a nauseated-looking smiley that I’m quite proud of, and offered it to the SDMB to use. Trawling [Symbols.com](http://symbols.com/), the closest I could find is [this one](http://symbols.com/encyclopedia/14/149.html), the alchemical sign for horse dung, nowadays also used for human excrement (in comics, for example). There’s also [this astrological sign](http://symbols.com/encyclopedia/39/3912.html), associated with disease and death, and, taking the title of the thread somewhat more literally, [this sign](http://symbols.com/encyclopedia/04/0433.html) indicating a pit-head or mine shaft (it’s however chiefly associated with ‘female’ or ‘woman’, so you may want to avoid using it in this sense…). ---
