I’m not sure you’ve thought that one through…

Huh. I was thinking it looked strangely familiar - almost exactly like a miracle bra (which is, technically, uncomfortable, too.)

Well, she lived on a farm in North Dakota. I forgot to mention that. With 17 kids, I mean, who has time for petty contrivances like the Bust Enhancer?

It could be used in an emergency situation as a dual cannon ball sling shot holder thingie.

Well, not really. A woman couldn’t just put those on and then put her dress on over it, the way a woman does today with a bra. That wouldn’t have been “proper.” She still would have worn her corset and myriad other underthings. The purpose of these “bust imporvers” is to restore shape to a bosom flattened by the corset, or, as the ads sometimes put it, “improve on nature.”

\*\* HerMajestyLorna, \*\* comfort wasn’t really an issue. Women were never comfortable in their clothing in the Victorian era.

You know, I really have a lot of admiration for our fore-mothers. To have survived in the heat wearing around five layers of clothing, (which weighed up to twenty pounds) and a crushing corset means that they were tough ladies, indeed.

While being called “the weaker sex”. 😛
