This is why we can't have nice things: asshole tourists in Japan

I think he’s just an asshole. Being a raging asshole is not a mental illness.

Shame we can’t reclassify it as such and open some asylums to store those people. A world cleared of raging assholes would be a much nicer place for the other WAG 99%.

Just repurpose Mar-A-Lago. A lot of them are already there.

Things haven’t gone well for Johnny. He had been hoping to have the deep-fake charges dropped, the only ones he pled not guilty to. They weren’t; a recent motion by the prosecution that he hoped was going to do this was only to update the table of contents and update the times and dates to be correct. His closing argument is a textbook example of how not to show contrition to the court for your actions, it’s at 4:06 in the video. The judge visibly reacted to it, giving a side eye. Not the reaction you want to be going for from a judge determining your fate.

The prosecution asked for 3 years in prison with labor, a fine of 150,000 won (the maximum allowed), and registration as a sex offender. That, or something slightly below it, is likely to be his sentence.

150k won is around $100 so the least of his problems.

According to the video: Since he will be a registered sex offender in South Korea, he will also have to register as one in the US when he returns since he was given due process. Prison with labor means that you work harvesting produce or working in a factory. This can ordinarily be with civilians but since he is a registered SA, he can’t be around civilians and can only work in jobs with his fellow prisinors.

Jesus Christ, this is the sort of thing where AI is a good thing. Ask your AI to generate a photo of you in front of the fucking store with Mt. Fuji behind you. Make you a little prettier than you really are. Don’t bother the locals trying to run a business.

AI: c’mon, we knew sooner or later we’d start seeing at least some organic humans as inferior in all the ways that count.

I can only assume Somali has never offered a sincere apology in his entire life. “I wouldn’t have done what I did had I known what the consequences might be,” is not an apology. And he continues to avoid responsibility with his complaints that the law is unfair and other people aren’t being punished. I don’t know if this kid is capable of learning any lessons.

Ah, the classic, “I’m sorry that I got caught” apology. Right up there with “I’m sorry that you were offended by what I said” (as opposed to “I’m sorry that I offended you”).
