And so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on you goat-buggering bloody fucking witless hypocrite you. Careful where you step, for there is so very much broken glass all around you from the stones you threw from within your glass house.
Same as we Brits get annoyed with the “UK society is weak, and it’s about time you executed people for shoplifting.”
e.g. *We have gang and terrorism squads to send those types away for good and I am not sure why England doesn’t do that as well. *
Eh? Not sure what your point is there, sparky? Yes, some lads get rowdy at the game… but it’s confined to the knuckleheads, the average fan is unlikely ever to be caught up in footie violence. And that’s without hit squads hauling people off to a Supermax for having a beered-up ruck in a pub after the game.
I’m sure you had a point there with all your lovely links, but it’s not a very clear one.
Watching the 49ers at the “3-Com Stadium” (now there’s a name that evokes the beautiful game!) was one of the most illusion-shattering events I’ve been to… not a single chant, no energy, just a load of white-bread Yanks squeezing past to get more hotdogs.
And while we’re here, don’t you DARE raise Hillsborough as an example of hooliganism, you slimey fuck. Shits like you are as bad as fucking Kelvin MacKenzie, so you can rot in hell for that post.
Sure you do. You get my point just fine. You’re in denial up to your gizzard, that’s all.
Oh? That the level of lethal and near-lethal violence pandemic at U.K. footie games is so far beyond anything experienced at stadiums in the U.S.A. as to provide a clear contrast? Oh yes. that. The proof. That I provided. Right. There’s yer point, pal.
So. You decry the lack of chanting. You decry a lack of energy. And you decry the food sold in the United States? It is to laugh.
You know what? You’re an arrogant dick in your loathing of all things American and Sporting but you sure are right in this one instance. I have now read through several articles about the Hillsborough incident and it was out of line for me to have posted that as a cite. It was a horrible accident plain and simple, and is in no way was related to well-documented purposeful violence seen at many of your football matches. My apologies for citing it. Truly sad event, and truly an error on my part.
If you’d actually looked for “proof” you’d have noted that fewer that 0.01% of UK football fans are arrested for hooligan-related violence in a given year.
And most of those arrests happen outside the stadiums, well away from the “average” fan.
Hardly a “pandemic”.
Too right, boring as fuck.
As for my “loathing of all things American and Sporting” note I have singled out only the atmosphere at US professional sports events, in comparison to european football matches, and that in response to complaints that the UK is “too soft” on crowd trouble. That is the downside to having a police force willing and able (and apparently supported by the population) to incarcerate for 20 yrs anyone who shows a bit of passion at a game.
This is utterly laughable. You linked to five articles, one about a non hooligan-related tragedy in the late eighties, one six years old that said there had been a huge improvement in the long term, one detailing efforts made at grass-roots levels to improve things still further, and one dealing more with sectarian issues than football, and you think you’ve proven your dribbly fantasy of a nation dissolved in violence? Ha. Don’t piss on my shoes and tell me it’s raining.
Here’s a tip: next time you fancy trotting out one of these tired old link-fests in lieu of actual argument, read the articles yourself rather than just skimming the first five links off Google, sight unseen. Then you might not make yourself look like such an uninformed dick, apology or no apology. Next on your list of suggested reading might be a little investigation into the roots of Glaswegian sectarian violence. You never know, you might learn something.
Thanks for the tips, skippy. Why not provide me numbers showing that the level of violence and death at NFL Football games surpassed the level of violence and death at U.K. soccer matches, 1987-2007?
Oh. Can’t? Pity, that. Guess my cites kind of hold up. And since when is an act of violence from six years ago not fresh enough? Fucking hypocrites. The cite I used-incorrectly- was from 1988 but oh golly everyone got their doidies up in a twist over that one. So why is a cite on a legitimate act of violence at a soccer game from several years ago not valid?
And, most to the point, who the fuck made you the Calendar-Keeper of All Things Cite? I provided valid proof. So fuck off.
Not really. My apology was quite heartfelt- not only was it a poor cite it was a non-cite entirely. A sickening tragic event that in no way is connected to violence in the intentional sense at a soccer game. I apologized once for mis-using it.
However, I’ve had two friends assaulted by Bills Fans for
A) Being Canadian and
B) not wearing Bills Gear…while being Canadian
On sepreate occassions.
By some peoples posting I guess that means Buffalo is a hotbed of hooliganism…Violent terroristic hooliganism. Likely because of their pussy laws and lack of Swat teams keeping the peace.
