Wait, I thought that it was still illegal for someone over 18 to have intercourse with a 15 year old, even where 14 was the age of consent. Is this wrong?

The reference I [used](http://www.webistry.net/jan/consent.html) seems to be either outdated of hopelessly wrong – checking other sources I find 16 as the most common AOC in the US, but wide differences depending upon the source. [One](http://www.coolnurse.com/consent.htm) says only South Carolina has consent at age 14 (for females), [another](http://teenadvice.about.com/library/weekly/qanda/blageofconsentchart.htm) adds Iowa and Hawaii to that list, and factors in parental consent.

Whatever the age of consent in that state or country, then that age is deemed sufficient to make an informed choice. So, if a 14 year-old girl in South Carolina wants to date Roger Clemens, and her parents are OK with it, then it’s perfectly legal.
