# This message board needs to be fixed. I’m not happy with the thread about the Dope being down and assorted other complaints being in the Pit. That establishes the idea that we can’t talk about these issues without people cursing, and it de-legitimizes the validity of our complaint. I want us to talk about it HERE. I want the moderators and administrators to be a part of the conversation. I want it to be discussed in a serious, focused, solution-oriented way. I’m sick of these problems with the Dope. I have timeouts several times every day where it just won’t load and I have to wait between 5 and 15 minutes to get on the website again. There are all these weird problems with posts not showing up. There’s the problem with the search that we have now. There’s the fact that you have to wait a long time between searches (why? You don’t have to do that on Talkbass, a bass player forum that uses the same VBulletin template or whatever that this site does.) I’ve never been a part of any drama related to this site and its administrators and I don’t want to be. Because I think this can be worked out reasonable. What’s the answer? What are we going to do here? ---

I’m not someone who would refuse to resubscribe over these database issues. But what would eventually get me to unsubscribe would be if we lost most of our contributors over these database issues. I like coming here because of the other posters. If the other posters leave because they’re sick of the constant technical problems, then there’s no reason for me to stay either, except to reminisce with the few remaining diehard old fogeys about how cool the SDMB used to be. ---

I’m not asking that to be an asshole; it’s a serious question. 2) What makes you think this hasn’t already been “discussed in a serious, focused, solution-oriented way”? I’d be more than happy to dig up some links to the myriad ATMB threads we’ve had regarding board performance issues in the past, but… ---

[/QUOTE] When I say “I want” I intend for that to mean “I think it would be a good idea.” It’s not like I’m some fat potentate sitting in a golden throne with naked slave girls fanning me with palm leaves, bellowing “I WANT (x)” in between bites of caviar. I think you were being snippy when you asked that question. I don’t want to use the word “asshole” but I think it was a rude question. What would the point of asking that question possibly be, other than to take a swipe at me? You already said I had an “annoying habit.” This is the whole reason I wanted a discussion like this HERE instead of in the pit - so it could be about focused and specific solutions to the problem instead of personal squabbles. And there are already several threads in the pit about this, hence my idea to have one here. Which answers your second question. ---

I really don’t know what else you expect. This is not a touchy-feely board, so based on past experience, I wouldn’t expect the mods and admins to cluster round for a touchy-feely group hug/brainstorming bull session. It doesn’t work like that, here. ---
