How dirty is your bedroom? Mine is always a wreck, but this time it’s gone too far. This place is an unbelievable mess. I know someone out there will have me beat, but here’s what’s lying on my bedroom floor right now.

Used car stereos, beer bottles, flour tortillas and queso from [Taco Cabana](http://www.tacocabana.com/index.asp), an old computer with the case off, piles of CDs, clothes of all kinds, an acoustic guitar missing a string.

A tool box, four No Parking signs, a beat up copy of Doyle Brunson’s [Super System](http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1580420818/qid=1108247265/sr=8-2/ref=pd_csp_2/103-5013147-3284614?v=glance&s=books&n=507846), three pairs of shoes, a six-pack of RCA video cables, a hacksaw and a hammer, a bottle of [Sriracha rooster sauce](http://www.huyfong.com/no_frames/sriracha.htm).

Utility bill receipts from six years ago, a Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas strategy guide, a pack of Camels, army fatigues, still packed luggage from a trip three weeks ago, a christmas stocking, a graphing calculator, a bottle of absinthe, and a hair dryer. And that is by no means a comprehensive list.

Well, I’ve had it. My tolerance for clutter and filth has limits and this is beyond them. It’s time to CLEAN.

…
…
Actually, I’m going to go drink beer and eat some pizza at a friend’s house instead. I’ll clean it later. God, I am such a pig.

My living room is my bedroom and computer room and can thus get pretty dirty when I don’t clean up but at the moment, all that really needs done is some light rearranging (I can be pretty obsessive about things being arranged just so when I’m in one of my moods), some vaccuuming (I’ve lived here for eight months and haven’t vaccuumed once), and washing my clothes.

Of course, I \*\*\*just \*\*\*cleaned up an hour ago and have a half full garbage bag waiting to be taken out that’s full of pizza boxes, papers, and soda cans.

-
  -
    - I tend towards clutter but it is only clothes, books, magazines, ect., with a thick layer of dust on top. And the clothes are usually clean, as there is a hamper for the dirty ones… but I don’t leave any food around _at all_ because I hate having to deal with bugs. I do tend towards organization but I don’t have anywhere near enough storage space in the room I am using right now, so it is hopeless until I get out again.

I’m a big slob! And I don’t really care!

When I lived with my ex-boyfriend (he’s still my best friend… I hate the word ex-boyfriend, but he was my boyfriend at the time. I digress…), we were disgusting. We kept the brown sugar in the middle of the livingroom floor. I slipped on it once. Once, he accidentally spilled a box of pepper on the floor and we just left the pile there for a few days. It was awesome. 😃 Eventually we picked it up on a sheet of paper and threw the pepper off the balcony.

We didn’t _own_ a real vacuum cleaner, so we never vacuumed. I think maybe we had a dustbuster, but I don’t remember.

The only problem was the cloud of fruit flies emanating from our sink.

And the only room that was really clean was the bathroom. I don’t know why, but I need a clean bathroom. The rest is not so important to me.

I don’t know, I just think there are roughly 38 million things more important than cleaning. Like sleeping, for example. And being happy.

My home is clutter hell. Got worse while I was in depression, and I’m slowly trying to get stuff cleared out now. I don’t invite people around here unless I know they’re either blind, or have had their shots. _sigh_

I cleaned my apartment today…for four hours straight. This isn’t a large apartment, just a smallish two-bedroom, and I didn’t even touch the spare room. My bedroom was the worst of it…it wasn’t like _dirty_ dirty, just terribly cluttered, and there was lots of dust and cat hair. Also, I still had boxes in my bedroom that needed to be unpacked (I moved in last June), and clothes strewn everywhere, and books, and CDs, and computer stuff, and shoes, and yet more cat hair.

Also, I finally took my Christmas tree down. Heh. The cats are pissed.

Meh, mine has been up for three years straight. I have a 4 drawer steel filing cabinet in my room for all my bills, etc. I have three years of bills, pay stubs, and receipts piled on top of said file cabinet. The whole mass is lightly frosted with four colors of dog and cat hair.

My house is always, always a cluttered mess. Not so much actually dirty, as cluttered. But there are days I can’t walk across the floor without tripping myself - 4 kids and their toys, oy!

And I thought my house was bad and awful until I went to a friend’s house. She has 2 boys and a husband who works out of the home. Their house is honestly what I could call dirty - from what looked like weeks’ worth of accumulation of cat hair, crumbs, assorted detritus, and other bits and pieces all over the wood floor. And all the clutter, of course. I don’t know how they can stand it, but then, lots of people don’t know how I can stand my own house, so there you go.

My idea of this place being a mess is a few clothes on the floor in the bedroom and a couple of dishes sitting in the sink. Y’all are making me feel good about my housekeeping skills. 😃

Clutter is one thing, though, filth is something else entirely. I cannot tolerate things being dirty (kitchen, floors, toilets, tubs, etc.), but I can handle books piled up a bit or my sewing projects laying around.

One of my favorite quotes goes: No one, on their death bed, ever said “I wish I had spent more time cleaning.” OK, maybe that is a paraphrase, but I like it! 🙂

I’m not much for filth and other slobbery, but I loves me some clutter.

I can alwaysy find everything though. Makes it more like “creative organization” than clutter. 😃

Lessee… along with the usual dirty clothes, there’s a toolbox; used auto, motorcycle and household hardware; the wife’s antique furniture that we “will sell soon”; boxes of stuff that haven’t made it to the attic; several bags of stuff that never made it back into the toybox; a telescope; stacks and piles of books and shoes that work as chinking to seal the “floor” between the other stuff.

There’s also a bed in there… somewhere. I can see the headboard if I stand on my toes.

Oscar: Lonely.

My places have always been chaotic. But the champion in my experience is, of all people, a _female_ friend. She’s got stuff in there that’s resting in the same place it was put in 1996. That includes a traceable History Of Computers all the way back to the AT. One time she thanked me for cleaning her toilet, when all I did was conduct my stand-up business in there and the stream pressure dislodged the algal growths. She has confessed to me that she just does not view that space as a “home”, it’s just a storage locker because she has to put her own body _somewhere_ overnight.

I’m a slob. My wife is a slob.

And we have 4 kids.
I’m not sure if we were slobs before the kids, but afterwards…I mean there’s only so much you can do before you get the feeling it’s all hopeless.
