Ouch. You must really hate musicals non stop.

Wow. No mentions of how “Horse with no name” was about a junkie kicking a heroin habit? It could be. Horse=H. Denied by the band.

Nobody has called ‘America’ the ‘poor-mans’ Crosby, Stills & Nash?

There were no suggestive lyrics in the '_70’s!_

But you won’t need no harem, honey.
When I’m by your side
And you won’t need no camel – no, no
When I take you for a ride

- Maria Muldaur “Midnight at the Oasis”

Really polite answer to \*\* Realty Chuck & Miller \*\* Many people confuse Andrew Lloyd Webber with Boublil and Schoenberg, probably because the three best know musical logos are Cats, POTO and Les Miz.

What I really want to say: WHAT! First of all, B&S only decided to write musicals after hearing ALW’s Jesus Christ Superstar. Their first one, La Revolution Francaise, went absolutely nowhere (something you cannot say about JCS). Les Miz was their second, and it wouldn’t have gone anywhere except Cameron MacIntosh, who had produced many of ALW’s best shows, saw it and convinced them to bring it to the English speaking audience. ALW owns a huge piece of the Les Miz pie, having decided it could be an international hit (he was right).

And what have B&S done since then. Miss Saigon was hardly a huge hit, and Martin Guerre is unknown, having played only int he West End and having been revised so much that Forbidden Broadway broke its rule of only doing parody of Broadway shows to present "the return of the return of the return of Martine Guerre (my favorite review was titled “Guerre is hell.”). So there!

We now stop this rant and return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

Wasn’t til I was 18 that I realized “Nights in White Satin” was by The Moody Blues, not the Beatles. No wonder I couldn’t find it on any of my Beatles albums.

**chique** - add me to your short list of "doesn’t know what “Smells like Teen Spirit” sounds like. Still haven’t heard it in my conscious mind. Prolly in a commercial, but not the conscious mind.

Gerry Rafferty recorded Baker Street and was in Stealers Wheel, who did sound a bit like Steely Dan. So not such a big mistake IMHO.

Funniest mix-up of all time - the Doper who thought that Jerry Lewis and Jerry _ **Lee** _ Lewis were the same guy. Lemme search for that thread real quick…

Oh yeah, **Opal** already snaked it for her “Classic Posts” page. But man, does it bear re-linking. **lno** is one of the funniest human beings ever. And I get to meet him next week!

> Why not proud?? _Tatooed Millionaire_ is a decent solo album, perhaps not the greatest but certainly better than anything Iron Maiden was doing at the time…yet it was only the start of Bruce Dickinson’s amazing solo career during the 90’s when he was out of Maiden. Teaming up with fellow ex-Maiden alumnus Adrian Smith, he put out two of the best metal albums EVER, _Accident of Birth_ and _Chemical Wedding_. In fact, it’s a crying shame that Bruce & Adrian decided to reunite with Maiden in 1999, because since then we have heard only the tepid 2000 release _Brave New World_, followed by…NOTHING!!!

> Well, I can’t recall offhand any song that I thought was a different BAND (except, continuing the Maiden thread, when I first heard “Run to the Hills” I thought it was by Wayne Newton…long story…) but I can certainly think of a few misheard lyrics. The most egregious example would be “Listen to the Music” by **the Doobie Brothers** , which for 20-odd years I thought was called, “For Awhile It’s Confusing”. Funny thing is, I _knew_ they had a song called “Listen to the Music”, and wondered why I never heard it on the radio!! It wasn’t until I bought the Doobies’ greatest hits album a couple years ago that I realized my mistake…d’oh. \*\*

i]Accident of Birth\* and _Chemical Wedding_ are two of the best Metal Album ever?

No offense but I think our tastes vary quite a bit on this subject. I’ll continue to be ashamed to have Tatooed Millionaire and you can continue to like it.

Stealers Wheel!! That was the name. I knew Steel Wheelers didn’t sound right.
