[No, he sued (and won).](http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=242)

My contribution: I’ve always thought the bass lines of [Midnight Oil’s “Beds are Burning”](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10BbpGKLXqk) and [Bruce Springsteen’s “Pink Cadillac”](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwCdMRyWdLo) were nearly identical.

I think I already posted this in one of the many repeat clones of this thread.( Isn’t there a single original idea amongst you, it’s always like groundhog day around this place?).

But I think there was a definite rip off in the case of [Copeland](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_KZO0XZ5aM&feature=PlayList&p=90B1A04FE3CAF152&index=0&playnext=1) vs.[Fallout Boy](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0T-gxtVUzM). Copeland is the better band, but it lost out to POP.

_I’ll Be There_ by the Jackson Five v _Let It Be Me_ by the Everly Brothers.

Comedy group Supergirly used to sing _Hit Me Baby (One More Time)_ and _Oops, I Did It Again_ against each other - they fit quite well.

I’ve heard (but have trouble believing) that the Marley/Banana Splits thing is deliberate - that Marley liked the riff and “borrowed” it. I don’t think it’s been completely confirmed or debunked, and it’s too late now to ask Bob.

The comedy band Tripod some years ago had a piece where they sang a round of the first four singles from Oasis’ “(What’s the Story?) Morning Glory” to show the identical chord progressions.

Well, of course, every beginning guitar player (at least did back when I was one) figures out that “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and “Feelin’ Alright (I’m not Feeling Too Good Myself)” are the same song. Many such guitarists also realize that “Take a Walk On the Wild Side” is also the same song, with bass lick added.

When I was in high school, a friend and I did a project for a political science class about Tommy Thompson (then US Secretary of Health and Human Services). Rather than a boring presentation, we did a song that mixed together “Last Resort”, Green Day’s “Brain Stew” (which **control-z** already mentioned), and the Foo Fighter’s “My Hero.” It was pretty good. I wish I had a recording of it to share.

Thank you! For years I thought I was the only one who thought that. (The problem being that most people I mention it to have no idea who the Banana Splits were.)

And on a similar note, the beginning of the acoustic version of “Outta Mind Outta Site” on Wilco’s “Being There” (the one on the second disc) has always reminded me of the Sesame Street Theme.

The first sound-alikes I thought of are Phil Collins’ **Sussudio** and Prince’s **1999**.

No, wait… I was actually thinking of the newest from Alexisonfire, _not_ Fallout Boy (although, there are some clear sonic parallels…).
The eerie lyrical and melodic case of [Copeland- Walking Downtown](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_KZO0XZ5aM&feature=PlayList&p=90B1A04FE3CAF152&index=0&playnext=1) versus [Alexisonfire- This Could Be Anywhere In The World](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23Ivt-ikYIk&feature=PlayList&p=B2A5D94714790816&index=0&playnext=1)
