I’m seriously starting to believe I grew up in a dysfunctional household. ::sigh:: This isn’t the first time I’ve come to such a realization here. Thanks a lot guys. Seriously though. I’ve been on my own since I was 16 years old, after spending about a year in an “institution”. So I haven’t lived with my parents since I was 15 years old. I’m the youngest of four and I’m female. My parents must be crazy. Definitely take the mature approach. Don’t bitch about not getting your way this time. There will be a next time and, between now and then, you can demonstrate your maturity to both your folks. Your dad will come around. Maybe, since your mom agreed that you should be able to care for yourself, you could ask her to sit down with you and your father and talk about this. Just don’t make it seem like the two of you are ganging up on him. Your mom can point out the things she sees in you that lead her to believe you are ready to be left alone for so long and your dad can point out the things that lead him to believe that you’re not. I’m guessing that this is a “daddy’s little girl” thing and he really has no reasons. Don’t take my advice unless someone backs me up though. I have no kids and, as stated above, my parents are obviously a bit on the “not normal” side. ---
