There are two sisters who live across the street from us. Nice women. I refer to them as the coo-coo pigeon sisters, in honor of that movie. We have California scrub jays here that stay year-round. They’re one of the smartest members of the corvid family, being able to remember up to 200 food caches that they’ve created. They’re also very amenable to being friendly to humans and can be coaxed into eating out of your hand. We have four of them that come to the morning peanut banquet I provide. ---

Turns out Purina doesn’t make pigeon chow. (Yeah, I’m writing a letter) I’m pretty sure bread crumbs aren’t in their natural diet. What exactly do pigeon keepers feed their birds?
